Set in a fictional country called Daeho, the series is about the love and growth of young mages as they overcome their twisted fates due to a forbidden magic spell known as the "alchemy of souls", which allows souls to switch bodies.[11][18][19]

*SPOLIER ALERT?? I just finished season one of Alchemy of Souls and I started season two and I hate it. I could barely make it past the first episode. I have very strong feelings about and I have three main points I want to make.

I watched the first two eps. I do not like the fl. Her acting is flat and I don't think she has good chemistry with Jang Uk. The story went in a interesting direction. The Jin mother made the choice of keeping Bu yeon's body alive, but Naksu soul survived not Bu yeon's soul. Now the Jin mother is keeping Naksu captive in her property because the Jin mother keeps saying it's Bu Yeon's body!!! Now Jang Uk can teleport people and can run like the flash? Because he has the ice stone in him. The comedy is not as good as last season. That Park Jin is retired and is a bad cook comedy bit got old fast. They made the same joke 4 times.

I want to know if the plot does get better and no spoilers pleaseDoes Naksu and Uk have better chemistry later on? It seems like the first season where Mu deok/Naksu helps Jang Uk, but Jang Uk helps Naksu in this season

I loved season 1 of Alchemy of Souls, but I somehow missed the memo that the FL actress was changed for the second season. I just finished episode 2, and I can sort of accept how they're justifying it, but I'm really worried by how the romance will play out with the new Noksu/Bu-young -- particularly withthe memory loss and the fact that she feels like a totally different person than Noksu as Mu-deok. I'm sure the actress is great -- I have no complaints about her acting -- but it feels like they've just introduced a new character.

My main concern: If Jang-uk falls in love with/makes a move on Bu-young before he knows that she's Mu-deok, that would feel like an utter betrayal to his characterization and what we saw in season 1. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I can't imagine a scenario in which I'd be able to suspend my disbelief through that.

So that's my question. Given the concern I have above, should I continue watching? Do you think I have a reasonable chance of enjoying this season 2, or should I quit while I can still pretend it doesn't exist?

In season 2, they made fl a weak character who needs ml for saving and even when she retrieved her memories, she did not show much anger or desire for vengeance against jin mu, which should be technically her first thoughts. Most of the plot was just jang uk falling in love with a totally new version of naksu because there was not a single thing common between S1 and S2 naksu. there was not much suspense and story either.

Actually, the leads had more chemistry in season 2 and it was still funny. Naksu was a mess of a character since the middle of season 1 and in season 2, I don't blame the actress but it's the writing of the show that is the weakest and all the illogical mess they created. It's definitely not one of the Hong sisters' best drama but I still watched it because I wanted to see how they would end. Hotel del Luna is still the sister's best work.

Got a 3-4 eps into the first season but put it on the backburner because of school/work. Does it continue on the path of pretty much all the major male characters falling in love with the female lead?

The second season of the Korean drama series came to an end in January 2023. Since then, fans have been waiting for the news of the show returning for a third installment. However, there has been no official announcement of a renewal or a release date news for Alchemy of Souls Season 3 as of yet. So it is difficult to say whether the series will be making a return or not.

From the beginning, Naksu and Jang Uk seemed ill-fated. For one, she is an assassin who practiced a type of magic that was banned in the country. Alchemy of Souls helped her occupy Mudeok's body in the first season. At the end of that season, Mudeok stabbed Jang Uk through the heart after being controlled by Jin-mu and jumped into the very same lake where Jin Bu-yeon had found the powerful ice stone.

In the second season of Alchemy of Souls, it was revealed that Mudeok was, in fact, Jin Bu-yeon and was rescued by the Jin family with the help of Senior mage Lee. He did keep the fact to himself for three years. Jang Uk and Naksu were, however, meant to meet again. It is only in episode 8 that the two of them realize the truth.

The answer comes in the final moments of episode 10 of Alchemy of Souls season 2. Jin Seol-ran decides to give complete control of Jin Bu-yeon's body to Naksu and disappears after the Fire Bird is taken care of. Following this, Jang Uk and Naksu, with the blessings of the mages of Jinyowon and Songrim, live as a married couple. They are handed the responsibility of hunting down the relics that escaped from Jinyowon's mansion during the fight.

Week to week, the k-drama Alchemy of Souls grew massively in popularity on Netflix. Fans of the show will be delighted to learn that the series has already been renewed for a second season, filming is currently ongoing, and the k-drama will return to Netflix in December 2022.

The first episode is currently scheduled to air on Saturday, December 10th, 2022. The second season has half the number of episodes as season 1, which takes the total number of episodes to ten.

I think there is a possibility of making a season 3 to tell the story of Buyeon within her family with JSM

But there to combine with season 1 & 2, the actors and the teams have already shot for 1 year, it's a lot, some will want to do something else

There are a lot of other issues and you guys have pointed out some of them. Overall, this is a 'drama that could have been'. And I might check on the 2nd season because I'm way too deep not to see where this end. But next time I might just wait to binge. This journey of live viewing with you guys have been fun and I really enjoy meeting you all here. But man I don't think i could deal with the mental and emotional gymnastics all over again.

I understand that the writers wanted to make things right as it is quite weird and strange to have the male lead and female lead get married and have children and live happily ever after with the female lead having 2 souls in a body that isn't even hers. However, they could have fixed it up right in the middle of season 1 so we could have seen the relationship development of the two with the soul in the correct body and have not invested on Mudeok and Uk. Also it would have given us a chance to have gotten to know Buyeon much better as a separate entity or body from Naksu's soul. But whatever. I'm over it. LOL! I'll let the writer write whatever they want to write. I give up. LOL!

I don't remember Master's Sun or even Hotel del Luna being quite so shocking. I haven't watched Korean Odyssey, so I can't speak to that one. The ending to season 2 had better be good to recover from this!

This drama ended with so much loop hole.. Very disappointed with the ending. Why Jang Gang need to be back after many years only to disappear..same with Hotel Del Luna.. and they kept highlighted Bu Yeon greatest power but ended kill her own father. We need justice for Buyeon's character..based on the preview for next season seems like mudeok's body been saved and probably JSM will be on S2..but maybe as cameo since there focus too much on Naksu@GYJ. We all know that the main story is about Naksu and JSM did her job very well makes me more interested with Buyeon's history than Naksu..

I hope I'm right,.. I hope you make her a cameo until ep10 or just include Jung Somin as Buyeon-ssi on Season 2. And let alone Naksu retrieve her own body. Writers just please stop Shifting souls already.

Hello everyone! I'm back again to analyze and theorize! This time I'm choosing to write about "Alchemy of Souls"! For readers who have stuck with me since "Tale of the Nine Tailed", I want to give you all a heads up that I will be providing theories and analyses for season 2 once it comes out! So look forward to that!

First, "eyes are the gateways to our souls". Second, there are two gateways in which the soul can enter or exit: the eyes and the heart. I am theorizing that because Mu Deok does not have a soul which could've exited through the area above her heart, she would have no blue mark there. Due to this, Naksu's soul had no where else to go except for the other gateway which was through Mu Deok's eyes.

If you remembered during Ep 2, Jin and his minions were not only trying to steal Naksu's body and sword, but also trying to get into Cheonbugwan. There is a device that Jin Mu is aware of which is resides in Cheonbugwan: the Soul Ejector. Not much is known about this device. I'm guessing that based off of its name, it is a device which ejects souls and can be used to reverse soul swapping.

After premiering its first episode on Netflix last week on December 10, Alchemy of Souls is being simulcast on the streaming service, complete with English subtitles. For Korean audiences, season two will be broadcast via cable network tVN. ff782bc1db
