I am a Peter Buck Fellow at the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution). I am interested in the evolution of plants and the study of biogeographic patterns. My research interest is to understand the evolutionary history of organisms to explain their origin, diversification, and current distribution. I currently use high-throughput sequencing techniques (i.e., Hyb-Seq) to unveil the diversification and the pantropical disjunction of Cissus, the largest genus of the grape family (Vitaceae). During my career, I also work in island biogeography, conservation, and spatial phylogenetics.
