Privacy Policy for ALauncher

ALauncher is a minimalist, distraction-free Android launcher developed by Nallu Pradeep Reddy. ALauncher is built from the ground up to respect user privacy: it operates 100% locally on your device, does not require an internet connection, contains zero ads, and contains zero third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

1. Core Privacy Philosophy

We believe your personal data belongs to you. ALauncher does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, device identifiers, or usage data with external servers or third parties. All processing occurs strictly on your device.

2. Device Permissions and On-Device Data Processing

To provide launcher and digital wellbeing features, ALauncher requests access to specific Android permissions. All data accessed through these permissions remains strictly local:

• Notification Access (NotificationListenerService): ALauncher uses Android's Notification Listener service to provide its core distraction-free filtering. Non-urgent notifications are suppressed from the system status bar and organized into ALauncher's custom Notification Center so you can review them without interruption. Sensitive contents such as one-time passwords (OTPs) and meeting links are processed entirely in device memory for real-time glanceable alerts and are never transmitted off the device.

• Installed Applications (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): As a home screen launcher replacement, ALauncher requires visibility of installed applications to display your app drawer, launch apps, and support fast search. This package list is never shared.

• Contacts Access (READ_CONTACTS — Optional): If enabled by the user, ALauncher accesses your starred/favorite contacts strictly to show quick-dial and message shortcuts inside long-press menus of communication apps. Contacts are never stored or shared.

• Calendar Access (READ_CALENDAR — Optional): If enabled by the user, ALauncher reads upcoming calendar events for the current day to display agenda reminders on the home screen contextual island. Calendar data is processed on-device and never shared.

• Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS — Optional): If you enable App Limits and Screen Time tracking, ALauncher queries on-device foreground app usage to help you take screen breaks. Usage stats are processed locally and never uploaded.

• Do Not Disturb / Focus Mode (ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY — Optional): When you activate Focus Mode, ALauncher toggles Android's Do Not Disturb setting on your behalf. This controls system-level interruption filtering and does not access or store any personal data.

• Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW — Optional): Used solely to display the Universal Thumb Dock handle and show screen break reminders when app limits expire.

• Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT — Optional): Used to display connected audio accessory names (e.g. headphones) on the home screen glanceable status bar.

• Background Services (Foreground Service): ALauncher uses foreground services solely to keep the Universal Thumb Dock and Screen Time tracking running reliably. A persistent notification is shown as required by Android. No data is collected or transmitted by these services.

3. Data Storage and Retention

All user preferences (favorite apps, notification filter rules, quick notes, clipboard history) are stored exclusively in your device's local sandboxed storage (DataStore, SharedPreferences, and Room database). No data is synced to the cloud. Uninstalling ALauncher permanently erases all stored data.

4. Children's Privacy

ALauncher does not address anyone under the age of 13, nor do we knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.
