We recently transitioned to HubSpot and PandaDoc but use QuickBooks desktop version as we've heard a lot of negative feedback regarding QB web version. I have yet to find anyone that is able to integrate HS or PD with QB desktop.

Quickbooks Desktop For Mac 2016

Just updated to latest operating system for my iMac (Sonoma 14.0) and Quickbooks desktop (latest version was 2019 before they forced everyone into their overpriced online version) doesn't work. Is it incompatible with the new iMac OS ?

It is absolutely not compatible. I found this out the hard way and had to restore my Mac back to Ventura a few weeks ago. This was preferable to paying Intuit's subscription fees when previously, a desktop license bought worked for years. It's a dirty business model, in my opinion. I'm thoroughly frustrated with so many companies going to subscription-only services so they can steadily bleed their customers for more money. Anyone abort using Quicken for something else? If so, what did you switch to?

And yes, like you, I absolutely will not use subscription accounting software. Especially not for my very simple retiree needs. Problem is, darn near everything out there is subscription software, whether it's desktop or online only access (I can't imagine why anyone would want their business data on a remote server, no matter whose it is).

No. QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are separate platforms that do not sync with each other. However, in addition to its mobile app, QuickBooks Online has a desktop app. Any info you enter into the QuickBooks Online desktop app will sync with your cloud-based QuickBooks platform if your computer is connected to the internet.

Doing google searches on this matter is just confusing because some places say it will work as a desktop with no updates or upgrades avail. Even QB support said it will, then said I had to update to 2024 to continue.....

For me, the push to Quickbooks online started about 2 years ago - my last desktop purchase was almost double in price as the previous version - this year I had to make a choice. Go with the online version or find another product. After searching quite a bit, I realized that many of the accounting software vendors have migrated to an online version also - I settled for the Quickbooks online version. The interface is quite different and I'm still learning but, so far I've managed to make it work for me. Note, I was not at all happy but, at least transferring my QB Database from Desktop to Online worked. Although some of the other vendors noted that you could do the same thing, when you looked at the details, not all of your QB Data may not go and then there's dealing with different terminology and another totally different interface. I don't have any good suggestions for your situation as everyone has different needs. It's frustrating when something you used for a long time suddenly changes and you end up feeling lost or in my situation - not a happy camper. Hopefully, you will figure out what's best for you.

With Quickbooks Desktop set to increase to $549/year for the cheapest version (Pro Plus), what is everyone planning to do? It's hard to swallow paying that much when I used to pay $150 every 3-years for Pro (from 2008 - 2021). I'm still not sure I want to switch to an online platform as I've gotten used to QB Desktop and can fly through my general journal entries, bills, and receipts. Has anyone moved to another desktop accounting software and happy with it? I imagine people will start grumbling once the news of the price increase becomes more mainstream. Here is a link where I found out about it...

For now, existing subscribers of QuickBooks Desktop users can continue to purchase subscriptions to the desktop accounting software applications. However, if you do not have an active existing subscription and you want to use the Desktop product, you must purchase a subscription before July 31, 2024. Otherwise, according to Intuit, after that date, you can license QuickBooks Enterprise, but a new subscription to other QuickBooks Desktop products will not be available. 589ccfa754
