MARK NEEDS A KIDNEY

WILL YOU BE MARKS HERO?

Hello, my name is Mark Boomhower, I live in southern New Hampshire, with my wife Tammy. I am a proud father of two children, Amanda and Timothy. I enjoy spending time with my family camping, utving, and snowmobiling.

Initially diagnosed 10 years ago, I am now in stage 5, or end-stage kidney disease. A recent medical visit found that I have a kidney function of 6% and soon will require dialysis. My family and I were hoping that I would receive a donor kidney before dialysis became necessary. While I am on the deceased donor list, it could take 5-7 years to get to the top of the list. The other option for donation would be from a LIVING DONOR. My wife tried to donate but was found unable to. Unfortunately, There is hereditary kidney disease in the family and it was advised for our children not to try to donate to me.

The main reasons we hope to receive a living donor kidney transplant are:

The wait for a deceased kidney in our area is 5 to 7 years

A kidney from a living donor has the potential of lasting twice as long as a kidney from a deceased donor.

My blood type is O so anyone with type O blood can donate to me (Rh factor does not matter), however, my transplant center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, participates in the PAIRED DONATION PROGRAM so a person with any blood type can donate GUARANTEEING me a kidney.

Will you share your spare with me?
