Hi, I’m Delara Muntazir, daughter of Karima and Yama Muntazir, two incredible immigrants whose journeys shaped the heart of who I am. My mom is from Kenya, and my dad is from Afghanistan. While my mom’s side of the family is small (just her and her brother, who still lives in Kenya), my dad’s side is full of life and laughter, 12 siblings and lots of extended family, most of whom now live in California, a place I visit often and hope to call home soon.
I grew up in Redmond, Washington, and graduated from Redmond High School before attending the University of Washington, where I studied psychology and followed my deep curiosity for neuroscience. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to service. I was passionate about nonprofits and community work throughout my childhood and teen years. But during high school, something shifted, I discovered the fascinating world of medicine, and I haven’t looked back since.
At first, I thought I’d go to medical school, but after a lot of reflection (and some real world experience), I realized that becoming a Physician Assistant (PA) is the path that aligns best with my goals, values, and love for patient-centered care. I’m currently in the process of applying to PA programs across the country, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead.
Whether I’m in Kenya, California, or Washington, my journey is rooted in family, culture, compassion, and purpose, and I hope to carry that spirit into every exam room, every patient interaction, and every step of this next chapter.
