A remote-controlled WALL-E recreation exploring mechatronic system integration.
Inspired by the small cleaning robot from the Pixar animated motion picture and tasked to create a fully-integrated mechatronic system, the team of five second-year engineering students created M-O.
For this project, I focused on the electrical aspects of the motors, the electrical integration for the robot, and the power source. The major electrical goal was having a chargeable internal power source. After experiencing the pains of managing wires that powers a moving object, the decision to keep the power source internal was a simple one to make. The exact specifications of the power source changed through the sprints as new components were included and complications arose, but the core goal remained.
