Walk-in Manager

My Role:

Product Designer

Teammate:

PM + Engineering Team

Duration:

Three Months (ongoing)

Naukri Walk-in Manager is an application that helps recruiters conduct walk-in drives for hiring (from inviting job seekers to final hiring). I worked with the product team to design the product form idea to clickable prototype. This involves research, user testing, multiple design iterations and collaboration with engineering/tech team.

Challenge

Designing a product from scratch and bring something new to the market and make its adoption at least 60 percent

Problem

Struggle of managing the footfall at venue, assessment of all candidate and reporting of complete walk-in drive.

We started the project with a hypothesis that recruiters who conduct walk-in drive for hiring don’t have any user friendly platform to manage everything through one window and medium to evaluate the response of their marketing activity response and also the quality job seekers came at interview venue.

I also did some marketing research to understand the recruitment process of different organizations. Walk-in drive is a common process for hiring at entry and medium level especially in IT and BPO sector.

As Naukri.com have huge experience in sending invitations to candidate for walk-in drive which helps us in understanding the trend of different sectors position wise and geographical location wise.

To verify our hypothesis, I decided to conduct an online survey to understand the recruiters and job seekers pain point. We send the survey to most active recruiters using Naukri database for inviting job seekers for walk-in drives

The survey involves 15 questions (objective and open ended questions), focusing on how recruiters are managing the whole walk-in drive process from start to end.

Along with survey I also conduct one on one interview sessions with few recruiters. 2 from internal Naukri recruiters and 8 external recruiters.

Lining up the candidate at venue, Idea of actual footfall to arrange up the venue accordingly, no structured format of assessment by technical interviewer are the major pain point of hiring walk-in drive process.

From the survey, we discovered that

· Only 5% of the candidate turn up at venue out of the candidate who shown interest in interview.

· 10% rise in footfall at venue if they call one day before the walk-in to each candidate shown interest.

· 95% of the time Recruiter did not get the assessment report of rejected candidate from technical interviewer.

· 90% of the recruiters prefers email marketing as a major source for inviting candidate instead of search engine and social media marketing.

· 85% of recruiters believe sending multiple alerts through different mediums (SMS/WhatsApp/Call) will increase percentage of candidate footfall at venue.

· 75% of the recruiters requires some tool to automate the document management at venue (Resume and Application form filled by candidate at venue)

We also gathered some valuable insights from open ended questions.

· Need a platform to post walk-in drive along with target location and audience segment.

· Automated generation of emailer template and Banners for inviting candidates.

· Provision to create record of each candidate assessment

· Automated alert system is required to have maximum footfall.

· Approx. idea of footfall to arrange the venue accordingly.

Recruiters wants an easy way to manage the whole walk-in drive process which really benefit them and give them the justified report of every step.

Design Iteration - Quick Prototyping

After the survey, PM and I brainstormed product features, including how to present the different control to post and manager walk-ins, how to provide some interesting functions aiming to keep recruiters on the app and make its best possible adoption.

I first drew wireframes on paper, then turned them into high fidelity versions in Adobe XD, and finally linked them to build the clickable prototype. As its a both mobile and desktop application so i am attaching the only desktop application prototype below
