Title: Machine Learning for Climate Sciences.
Abstract: We live in an era where global climate change is the biggest challenge before the human civilization. To adapt to and mitigate climate change, it is important to have a thorough understanding of the climate system, and also develop an idea of how climate change may take place due to human activities in future. Climate Scientists have been trying to answer these questions based on their understanding of the physics and chemistry of the climate system. However, the availability of huge amounts of data from Earth Observation Systems has opened up the possibility of approaching this discipline using Data Science and AI/ML. In this talk, we will briefly explore some examples of how AI/ML are being used to answer various questions related to climate science and climate change.
