AI Scan-QR & Barcode Scanner Privacy Policy
AI Scan-QR & Barcode Scanner Privacy Policy
Last update date: 2025-09-16
We operate the AI Scan-QR&Barcode Scanner mobile application (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.
We use your data to provide and improve the App. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
We designed AI Scan to prioritize your privacy. The core function of scanning QR codes and barcodes is performed entirely on your device. For most users, we do not collect or store the content of your scans.
Camera Feed & Scan Results
The images from your camera and the decoded information (e.g., URLs, text, contact details) from QR codes and barcodes are processed in real-time on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use a feature that requires it (see below).
Data We May Collect
To improve the App and provide certain features, we may collect the following information, which is not personally identifiable by itself:
Usage Data: We may collect information on how the App is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). This may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g., IP address), device type, operating system version, the pages of our App that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other diagnostic data. This data helps us understand feature popularity and identify crashes.
Camera Permissions: This permission is required to enable core features such as scanning, taking photos, and recording videos. We won't activate the camera in the background without your active interaction (for example, when you're on the scanning screen). All camera-related operations require your active triggering. We don't access your camera and don't record or store video clips. We've declared android.hardware.camera as non-essential hardware (android:required="false"). Even without a camera, you can still use most of our features.
Photo Library Permission (Optional): If you choose to scan a QR code from an image in your photo library, we'll request access to your photos. This permission allows you to read the images on your device, allowing you to select and use local images when using features like scanning, uploading avatars, and sharing photos. We only access your images when you explicitly choose to use these features; we won't read or upload your media files unnecessarily.
Storage Permission: This permission allows you to read or save files (such as images and documents) to your device storage, for example, to save scans, download files, or back up data. This permission is only available on Android 13 and earlier. If you're using Android 10-12, we need to request storage access permissions to ensure proper functionality for features like file downloading and saving. Android 13 and above will use more granular media permissions (such as READ_MEDIA_IMAGES), eliminating the need for this generalized storage permission.
Crash Data: If the App crashes, we may receive anonymized reports containing information about the error to help us fix the issue.
Our apps may display ads and use third-party SDKs, such as Google AdMob, Unity Ads, and similar services. These third parties may collect and use data: device information (e.g., model, OS version, language, country), advertising ID.
Personalized and non-personalized ads: Personalized ads use your data (e.g., interests, app activity) to deliver more relevant ads.
Non-personalized ads are based on contextual information (e.g., app content, approximate location).
You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings:
Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of ads personalization
For more details, please review the privacy policies of our advertising partners:

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), our legal basis for collecting and using the information described above depends on the information and the specific context in which we collect it.
We may process your data because:
It is necessary for the performance of a contract with you.
You have given us permission to do so.
It is in our legitimate interests and does not override your rights.
Your information, including Usage Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
If you are located outside development site and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to development site and process it there.
Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
We may disclose the information we collect in the following situations:
Service Providers: We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our App ("Service Providers"), provide the App on our behalf, perform App-related services, or assist us in analyzing how our App is used. These third parties have access to your Usage Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information where required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
The security of your data is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
You have the following data protection rights:
The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you.
The right of rectification. You have the right to have your information rectified if that information is inaccurate or incomplete.
The right to object to our processing of your Personal Data.
The right of restriction. You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.
The right to data portability. You have the right to be provided with a copy of the information we have on you in a structured, machine-readable, and commonly used format.
The right to withdraw consent. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where we relied on your consent to process your personal information.
Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
