Air Arabia, the Middle East's first low-cost carrier, was established on February 3, 2003, by an Amiri decree issued by Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah. The airline commenced operations on October 28, 2003, with its main base at Sharjah International Airport1. Air Arabia quickly became a significant player in the aviation industry, breaking even in its first year of operation.
