I have had this with (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-114971089', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');Cebu Pacific (not flown with AA for long time, so can't speak from recent experience) where I have had all the correct documentation, but they won't allow an online check-in for an international flight and I have to present at the desk. Maybe its the same? Why not call them to find out why?

Just had an embarrassing experience and I don't think I am alone. Did online check in with AirAsia to go to Bali for the weekend from Perth. Only had hand luggage. My friend had booked it so had to do the check in (no access to the booking for me!), printed off what she naturally assumed to be boarding passes as it refers to them as that. We went straight through immigration and security. Waited for our inevitably delayed (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-76947838', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');flight. Queued to go on the plane and was told that they were not boarding passes and they couldn't let us on. We had not had our passport authenticated at the special counter where check in is yet we had gone through immigration. It does say on the piece of paper This is not a Boarding Pass but guess what, we had not noticed that when we were printing off our "boarding passes". Apparently this happens all the time. So no holiday for us! I don't know when this changed but quite recently by the sound of it. Makes a mockery of online check in. Has this happened to anyone else or are we just completely stupid?

June flights, we had to present docs downstairs at the baggage check-in area for verification. Very frustrating to have to wait in the line with all of the passengers who needed to check bags etc . We only have hand carry so the old system was very convenient. Apparently too many people were abusing the system, buying a ticket with no checked bags and then proceeding straight to the gate with over weight carry on bags. (The change has coincided with the reduction in carry on from 10kg to 7kg). So now they do the check at baggage drop so they can weigh suspect bags.

It is still a good idea to do the web check-in to get a seat allocation and to avoid being bumped in case a flight is overbooked, but we now refer to it as the Claytons web check,(the check-in you have when you are not checking in.)

The irony was that if we had managed to get the web site to work within Manage my booking so that we could pay for hold luggage, we would have obviously queued up and checked in that way. But it just wouldn't let us do it so at the last minute we threw our stuff into large holdalls and hence went straight to departures.

We were told by the Air Asia supervisor that they had introduced it because too many people were flying without the minimum 6 months on their passports. He also said that they would be heavily fined if they just did the check themselves at the departure desk. So there we are. No holiday!

It's not just Air Asia, Thai (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-76960798', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');Airlines is the same but thankfully I noticed the "this is not a boarding pass" so queued up to check in having already checked in online. I won't necessarily bother with online checkin again.

This just happened to me. Online check in with an E boarding pass on my phone. No where did I see that I have to validate anything You would assume going through customs is a validation that you are who is in the passport. Went through immigration waited to board the (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-78340899', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');flight only to be told no. An E boarding pass is not okay. I travel a lot and this has never happened. I have use E-boarding passes on many flights. It also meant I missed a connection flight out of KL. The re-booking price was the same as a new customer. So I booked with another airline. It should be clearly stated if you don't print your ticket you dob't see the "this is not a boarding card" What age are we living in. Everything is electronic and E cards are accepted by most decent airline. AirAsia sucks and completely unapologetic. I bet they do it to also make more money on those that make this mistake. Otherwise it would be a clear caution when online checking in.

Since I wondered maybe others do aswell. I just took a flight with airasia (carry on only of course) from Kuala Lumpur 2, right after check in before immigration everybody with suitcases and big backpacks were asked to weigh, it was very fast so you could even just not release the backpack fully if you wanted. You do not check in at counters with airasia and they didn't seem to have scales at the gate, so the only place to get checked is right after check in. I saw some with overweight luggage, they just walked out of the line, could repack/take stuff in pockets and then go back in line. So the 7kg was enforced for everybody at this airport this day, but I doubt they would actually care if your bag was 7,1kg as it was just very fast and simple. And I didn't see all backpack wearers get asked to check, if you have a 25l or something you would probably wouldn't get asked.

Some code-share flights may operate from a different terminal than that described below. Please confirm the location of your flight with your airline. Flight Information can be checked on the day of arrival or departure.

*A code-share flight is one which bears flight numbers from more than one airline.

So I asked the check in staff this morning, and they were unequivocal: if your boarding pass says GO TO GATE on it, no document check is needed. And this, indeed, proved to be the case: I did not have to interact with a single human on my way to the plane, just immigration check (scan passport) and gate check (scan boarding pass).

If you are going to the country of your citizenship, you won't have to go through document check at airline checkin counter. Printed boarding pass will suffice. You can directly go to immigration counters.

yes dont worry about about that. If you already have a boarding pass and it explicitly sais that you can proceed to the gate, then you dont need to checkin at the counter (unless you need to drop off the checkin baggage. They will additionally check you 2 more times, at the gate and on board of the airplane.

Yes, you will be able to print your boarding pass at home but will have to drop your bags at an AirAsia check-in counter at the airport before the cut-off time. Once you check-in online, however, no further changes can be made to your booking, such as changing the number of bags being checked.

Yes, AirAsia's Mobile Check-in allows you to check-in up 7 days prior and up to 4 hours before your flight departs. This service is available for all Internet-enabled mobile phones. Guests will be able to print their boarding passes using the 2D barcode scanners or Self Check-In Kiosks at the airport.

The airline has introduced fees of RM20 ($4.82) per customer for domestic flights and RM30 ($7.23) per customer for international flights. Passengers can avoid paying the fees by checking-in using the AirAsia.com website, mobile app or airport kiosks.

Javed Malik, Group Chief Operations Officer, AirAsia, said: We have seen a very high adoption of our self-check in services through our website, mobile app and airport kiosks over recent times. Thus, the implementation of the counter check-in fees is a way for us to further encourage guests to use these digital technologies, which we have invested enormously in, to promote and enhance operational efficiency and guest convenience. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, these self-check in facilities have become very crucial in minimising physical contact between our guests and staff. In the past two months, thousands of guests on essential travel have experienced our contactless travel procedures as we stepped up our safety and security measures for the health and safety of our guests and Allstars.

A waiver of the counter check-in fees will be given to guests with reduced mobility, Premium Flex or Premium Flatbed guests, as well as those affected by flight disruptions or an airport kiosk outage, and other exceptions.

When you book your ticket, you don't get any check-in luggage included, so if you need to take anything in addition to your cabin baggage, then you have to pay for a weight allowance from the following options: 15kg, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 40kg.

Any individual bag you check in must be less than 32kg and have dimensions less than 119cm x 119cm x 81cm. But you can bring any number of bags as long as they don't exceed your purchased weight. Theoretically, you could buy the 40kg option and bring 80 bags, each weighing 0.5kg. However, we're not sure why you would want to do that!

Log in to checkin.airasia.com or the AirAsia mobile app and enter your last name and booking number up to 14 days before departure. You will get an e-boarding pass or a 2D barcode, which you can use to print your boarding pass at the airport via check-in machines or ticket counters.

Online check-in closes 1 hour before the departure of domestic flights and 4 hours before international flights. Once you arrive at the airport, drop your checked baggage at the baggage counter at least an hour before the departure. 2351a5e196
