Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Metagenomics Workshop at Meharry Medical College
Department of Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Neuroscience and Pharmacology
1011 21st Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
Workshop Date: May 13 – 24, 2024
Workshop Overview
The metagenomics workshop consists of two modules, commencing with hands-on laboratory practice before progressing to data analysis. During the first week, participants will immerse themselves in practical lab work, refining skills in Illumina library preparation, sequencing, and data generation. Subsequently, the second week will center on the analysis and interpretation of sequencing data utilizing CZID and other bioinformatics tools.
The workshop is in-person and will be held at Meharry Medical College, which is near Nashville’s thriving downtown. The city Nashville has two nicknames: “Music City USA,” for its musical heritage, and “Athens of the South,” for the city’s dedication to fine arts and numerous colleges and universities.
All-day catering will be provided to attendees free of charge throughout the two weeks. Lodgings and travels will be covered for a limited number of attendees from other cities/states. Preference for travel support will be given to those coming from under-resourced environment.
