Synopsis
The AI.INSIGHTS project aims to develop a cutting-edge, privacy-focused platform for real-time analysis of user behaviour and satisfaction in event stands and small-to-medium retail stores. By leveraging Edge AI and multi-sensor fusion (RGB cameras, 360-degree cameras, LiDAR, depth cameras, mmWave radar, microphone arrays, ultra-wide band (UWB) technology, and other sensors), the system anonymously tracks key metrics like engagement, sentiment, dwell time, and crowd dynamics without storing personal data. The platform provides real-time dashboards, predictive analytics, and adaptive interfaces, including AR overlays, to help managers optimise stand performance and enhance the customer experience. It will result in three commercial products: INSIGHTS.APP, INSIGHTS.API for third-party integration, and an enhanced version of SPIC’s EVENT.OS. The project, developed by SPIC and the University of Algarve, aligns with GDPR and the EU AI Act, targets a global market, and aims to deliver actionable insights for improving ROI and operational efficiency in physical events and retail environments.
