Dreamtold: Bedtime Stories ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Dreamtold AI, an individual developer. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our mobile application. By using Dreamtold: Bedtime Stories, you agree to the terms described here.
Dreamtold is designed for parents and guardians to create personalized bedtime stories for their children. The app is operated by parents — not directly by children. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or use the app independently.
⚠️ CHILDREN'S DATA — IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE
To personalize stories, the app asks parents to provide:
The child's first name or nickname
The child's approximate age
Note: We utilize a Parental Gate (e.g., a math problem) before allowing access to settings, voice recording, or purchases, to ensure a verified adult is operating the app, not the child.
This information is used solely to generate personalized story content. We do not sell, share, or use children's names or ages for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than story generation.
The math verification step is designed to confirm that a parent or guardian — not the child — is entering this information. This is our parental consent mechanism for collecting child data.
Account information: email address and password
Child profile: first name or nickname, and birth month/day (strictly for delivering the annual in-app birthday story). We purposely do not collect the birth year to minimize data collection and protect the child's identity.
Story preferences: themes and characters selected in-app
Usage data via Firebase Analytics: screens visited, features used, session duration
Device information: device type, OS version, app version
Crash reports and performance data
Firebase Analytics does not collect personally identifiable information by default. Data is aggregated and used only to improve app performance.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple In-App Purchase and managed via RevenueCat. We do not collect or store any payment card information. All billing is handled entirely by Apple.
Story content is generated using the Google Gemini API. The child's name, age, and selected theme are sent to Google's API to produce story text. This data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. Google does not retain this data beyond the immediate API request, per Google's API data usage policy.
3.5 Voice Data and Microphone Access (Voice Cloning Feature)
If you choose to use our Voice Cloning feature, the app will request access to your device's microphone.
What we collect: We only record the voice of the parent or guardian. We explicitly prohibit and do not knowingly record or collect children's voices.
How it is used: The audio sample is securely sent to our third-party voice processing partner (e.g., ElevenLabs) solely for the purpose of generating a custom voice model to narrate bedtime stories.
Data Retention: We do not use your voice data to train foundational AI models, nor do we sell it. You can delete your custom voice model at any time within the app settings.
3.6 User Consent for AI Data Transmission
Before any personal data is sent to Google Gemini AI, we obtain explicit consent from the parent or guardian. During the child profile setup process, we clearly disclose:
What data will be sent (child's name or nickname and age)
Who the data is sent to (Google Gemini API, operated by Google LLC)
How the data is used (solely to generate personalized story content)
That the data is not retained by Google beyond the immediate request
The parent or guardian must acknowledge this disclosure before any story is generated. This consent is collected once during initial profile setup and stored locally on the device. No data is transmitted to Google Gemini AI prior to this consent being given.
To withdraw consent, you may delete your child's profile at any time from the app's Profile settings. Upon deletion, no further data will be transmitted.

We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's guidelines for apps directed at children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13
All child-related data (name, age) is entered by a verified parent or guardian
We verify parental involvement via a math question gate before accepting child data
We do not display behavioral or targeted advertising within the app
We do not include social networking features
We do not include links to external websites visible to children
Third-party analytics (Firebase) are configured to not collect data from child profiles
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without proper parental consent, please contact us immediately at vietvq23@icloud.com and we will delete it promptly.
We retain your account and child profile data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile settings in the app. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

We implement industry-standard security including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and secure authentication. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but take reasonable steps to protect your data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Regional Privacy Rights (CCPA & GDPR)
California Residents (CCPA): We do not "sell" or "share" your personal information. You have the right to request access to the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you and request deletion.
EEA/UK Residents (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing your data is the performance of our contract with you (providing the app's services) and your explicit consent (for features like Voice Cloning).
