Privacy Policy
Application: AI Doc Scanner (Android package com.openai.aidocscanner)
Provider: Open Artificial Inteligence ("we", "us", "our")
Effective date: [13 July 2026]
This Privacy Policy explains how AI Doc Scanner (the "App") handles information when you use it. We built the App to be privacy-respecting: the documents you scan are processed and stored on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not operate any server that receives your scans, and we do not require you to create an account or sign in.
Your scans stay on your device. Photos, PDFs, recognized text (OCR), and signatures are stored in the App's private storage on your phone. We cannot see them.
No account, no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
We show ads through Google AdMob, which uses an advertising identifier. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland we ask for your consent first.
We use analytics (Google Firebase Analytics) to understand aggregate, non-identifying app usage and to improve stability.
Purchases (Premium subscriptions and lifetime unlock) are processed by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details.
You are in control: delete any document in the App at any time, and uninstalling the App removes all locally stored documents.
When you scan, import, or edit a document, the App creates and stores the following in its private, sandboxed storage on your device:
Scanned images, photos you import, and generated PDF files;
Recognized text (OCR) produced on-device to make documents searchable;
Signatures you draw, page edits, thumbnails, and document names and folders you create.
This content is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the App. It stays on your device unless you choose to share or export it (for example, via the Android share sheet to another app, email, or cloud service you select). Anything you share that way is then handled under the privacy policy of the destination you chose.
The App uses your device camera to capture documents and for the live "count objects" and "measure area" features. Camera frames are used only for these features and are not sent to us. You can revoke the camera permission at any time in Android Settings.
The App includes Google SDKs that may collect limited data as described below:

To provide the App's core features — scanning, OCR, PDF creation, editing, and export;
To display and measure advertising, which keeps the App free;
To understand aggregate usage and improve performance, stability, and features;
To process and restore your purchases and to enable Premium features;
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your documents for advertising or analytics.
We use Google AdMob to display ads. Depending on your region and choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App presents a Google-certified consent message (via the User Messaging Platform) before serving ads, and we honor your choice.
You can control ad personalization at any time:
Use the in-app "Manage consent / Privacy options" option to review or withdraw consent where applicable;
Reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads;
Learn more at Google's Advertising and Privacy pages.
The third parties whose SDKs are included in the App process data under their own privacy policies:
Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Remote Config, Google Play Billing, ML Kit, UMP): policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share information only:
with the Google services listed above, strictly to provide their function (ads, analytics, configuration, payments);
if required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
Your scanned documents are never shared by us with anyone.
Your documents: retained on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App (uninstalling removes all locally stored documents, thumbnails, and recognized text).
Advertising and analytics data: retained by Google according to its own retention policies. You can reset your Advertising ID at any time.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
storing all documents in the App's private, sandboxed storage (not accessible to other apps);
an optional App Lock (PIN or biometric) and optional AES password-protection for exported PDFs;
disabling device backup of the App's data and preventing screenshots while the App is locked;
using encrypted (HTTPS) connections for all network traffic.
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
The Google services used by the App may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards under Google's policies.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because your documents are stored locally, you can exercise access and deletion directly in the App at any time. To exercise other rights, or to make a request regarding advertising/analytics data, contact us using the details below. We do not sell personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and post the updated version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected here; your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
