Privacy Policy for BookMind: AI Quote Scanner
Effective Date: February 23, 2026
This privacy policy governs your use of the software application BookMind: AI Quote Scanner ("Application"). The Application is an AI-powered tool designed to help users scan, save, and organize book quotes into a digital bookshelf.
1. Data Collection and Usage
We are committed to a privacy-first approach. The Application is designed to minimize the collection of personal data.
Anonymous Authentication: The Application uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number. A unique, anonymous User ID is generated via Firebase to distinguish your data from others and to allow data synchronization.
User-Generated Content (Book Data): We store the data you input, including book titles, authors, chapter names, and the text of the quotes you scan or type.
Photos and Camera: The Application requires access to your device's camera to scan book pages. We do not store your photos on any external servers; the AI scanning process involves text extraction, and original images are not retained.
Device IDs and Identifiers: We may collect anonymous device identifiers to help with app functionality, analytics, and ensuring the stability of the application.
App Settings: Local settings such as theme preferences and tutorial status are stored to improve your user experience.
2. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using a hybrid approach to ensure both speed and reliability:
Local Storage (SQLite/SharedPreferences): Core settings and certain data are stored locally on your device for instant access.
Cloud Storage (Firebase): Data is synced to Google Firebase (Realtime Database or Firestore) to ensure your progress and bookshelf are preserved if the app is reinstalled or the device is changed.
We implement industry-standard security measures provided by Google Firebase to protect your information and ensure that your data remains under your control.
3. Third-Party Services
The Application uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:
Google Firebase: Used for anonymous authentication and data storage. You can view Google's Privacy Policy here: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google Play Services: Used for app distribution and core Android functionality.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Since the account is anonymous, the data is linked to your specific installation.
Deletion: You can delete all your data at any time by uninstalling the application or by clearing the application's data in your device settings. If you wish to request manual deletion of data stored in Firebase, please contact us.
5. Contact Us
