Overview
AI Guardrail Plugin is a security extension designed to protect sensitive information when using AI services like Google Gemini, NotebookLM, and Bard.
Data Collection
This extension does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers by default.
Local Storage Only
- Security logs are stored locally in your browser using Chrome Storage API
- Logs include: timestamp, event type (masking/file upload), and site URL
- No personal identifiable information is transmitted outside your browser
Optional Server Integration
- Users can optionally configure a custom server URL for log transmission
- This is disabled by default and requires manual configuration
- When enabled, logs are sent to the user-specified server only
Data Processing
- Text masking is performed entirely in your browser
- OCR (Optical Character Recognition) uses Tesseract.js library loaded from CDN
- No text content is sent to external servers for processing
Permissions Used
- storage: To save security logs locally
- scripting: To inject security scripts into supported websites
- tabs: To detect when to activate on supported sites
- host_permissions: Limited to gemini.google.com, notebooklm.google.com, bard.google.com
Third-Party Services
- Tesseract.js: Loaded from jsdelivr.net CDN for OCR functionality
- No analytics or tracking services are used
User Rights
- All data is stored locally and can be deleted at any time via the extension popup
- Users have full control over their data
