Blazeman was not born in the modern world—his story began over two thousand years ago in ancient China. As a child, he was set adrift in a basket along a river. Unlike any ordinary child, he was made to eat the Eternal Flame, a mysterious power that kept him alive through storms, hunger, and the endless flow of time. He was sent away with the flame so that the greedy Emperor couldn't take the flame for himself. He washed ashore in Europe, where he was taken in by villagers who gave him his first name. Over the centuries, he lived under many identities to conceal his immortality: Aelius in Rome, Renaud in France, Ibrahim al-Nar in Arabia, and Ren Huo in China. His present identity, Ren Huo Arlin, is tied to his Chinese lineage, the surname meaning “fire.”
Blazeman aged very slowly to keep him living very long. Through history, Blazeman fought in secret wars and unseen battles. As a five year old in 1066, during the Norman conquest, he revealed his terrible fire to soldiers who mocked him as just a boy. In the Crusades, he scorched armies by cutting off their water and burning them in the desert. During the world wars, he fought silently in the shadows, destroying enemy lines without ever lifting a gun. His existence remained unknown to the public—his legend buried in whispers of unexplained fire and destruction.
Now, in the present day, Blazeman hides in Orvell City, living modestly under his human identity. Though ageless, he struggles with financial burdens, working as a historian to blend in with society, and also because he has seen history with his eyes. His fire, however, has never died. When threatened, his mortal form ignites into Blazeman, a living flame in a red suit and hood that conceals his eternal face. Blazeman became what he is not through choice but through curse—an eternal flame bound to his soul. For two thousand years, he has fought, wandered, and burned, never free from the power that keeps him alive. In every age, he has been called by different names, but one identity has endured above all others: Blazeman, the Eternal Flame.
