about me!
Hi, I'm Ahema! I'm a graphic design major, illustrator, and member of the 15th cohort of First Wave at UW Madison. My favorite mediums as a visual artist are pen/pencil, Adobe Illustrator/Fresco, and most recently: watercolor. Using vibrant colors, I love using art to do everything from designing characters to talking about Africa and philosophy. I started studying drawing seriously in 2020, with a focus on portraiture. You can check out my progress at @iiipadkid on Instagram, where I post all of my digital portrait drawings and sketches!

Current Project
West Africa is linked together by stories, language, and proverbs passed down centuries through visual art and design.
Little is known about these compositions in the Western world. As a Ghanaian-American graphic designer, I'm making a visual effort to change that.
The West African Composition is a research and arts project that seeks to explore the visual language of wisdom in West Africa. This art piece Table of Contents is like a map that will guide my research process. Each row represents four "chapters" of research and four consequential art pieces I'll make over the course of a year. From top to bottom, they represent the geographic scale at which I'll explore visualized wisdom--from the Asante people of Ghana, to all 16 nations in West Africa.
