Madrichim in Training

Agudas Achim, Alexandria VA

What are Madrichim?

People often assume that "madrichim" is the Hebrew word for "teachers' aide." In fact, madrichim is best translated as "guides". Although madrichim do aid teachers in such tasks as taking attendance, collecting tzedakah and sharpening pencils, their responsibilities go beyond the administrative duties suggested by the term teacher's aides. They guide younger students toward a positive religious school experience by demonstrating their involvement, their skills at collaboration and their initiative.
