Agroecology & Agrobiodiversity
Research Group
Research Group
The Agroecology & Agrobiodiversity Research Group is affiliated with the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (SAFS) programs at Bishop’s University.
Our group conducts interdisciplinary and participatory research centered on agroecology and agrobiodiversity. We collaborate closely with farmers and other partners to explore and co-develop solutions that foster resilient and sustainable farming systems. Through this work, we seek to enrich our collective understanding of how agroecological practices and biodiversity support ecological health, agricultural production and community well-being.
Research Facilities
Our research is grounded in the rich ecological and cultural landscape of Abenaki Territory in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Based at Bishop’s University, our group collaborates with a range of partners and field sites. We conduct research at the Bishop’s Educational Farm, on ecological farms throughout the Estrie region and at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Sherbrooke Research and Development Centre.
Bishop’s University is a small English-language institution located in Quebec’s scenic Eastern Townships. Our liberal education model fosters interdisciplinary learning and provides students with numerous hands-on opportunities, including internships and research.
At the heart of the SAFS programs, the 140-acre Educational Farm is a dynamic space for experiential learning. The farm serves as a living laboratory – advancing innovative research, hands-on teaching and field-based exploration.
