Agnese Sampietro, PhD

My name is Agnese Sampietro and I am an Assistant Professor in Spanish at the Department of European Languages and Cultures at the University Jaume I (Spain).

My work draws on different academic traditions to show the way language, participation, and communication work on the Internet. I am especially interested in the use of visual resources (such as emojis, memes, and images) in digital communication, which I have studied using varied approaches: computer-mediated discourse analysis (especially pragmatics), critical discourse analysis, and semiotics.
