Geronologists aim to:
Understand
They want to conduct research on the interaction between the body and the external environment to better understand the relationship between aging and social circumstances.
Support
They want to make resources available for other gerontologists to be able to conduct their research (NIA) as well as provide them with the moral support needed for them to excel in their careers.
Educate
They want to communicate their findings to healthcare professionals and the scientific community (NIA).
Implement
They want to use their research to advocate for the implementation of programs that improve the social circumstances of individuals as a way of slowing down the process of aging.
Improve
They want to improve the quality of the life of the elderly and decrease the threat of age-related diseases (Buck Institute)
