The following are terminology that we frequently use in our field
This is a type of "Programmed Cell Death" where the cell willingly commits suicide when something goes on within it (Snow, 2015). It is essential during development given it removes damaged cells before they cause any major problem. Such a process may lead to cellular aging if it went out of control and killed cells for no good reason.
This is the field that studies the process of aging (Kelly, n.d.).
This refers to the lifespan of an individual (Kelly, n.d.). When looking at it from the lens of aging, we could assume that it is also defined as the lifespan of a cell given that the lifespan of an individual is dictated by that of their cells.
These are diseases that affect the nervous system. They are common in the elderly where they are considered "age-related" diseases. Such types of diseases are incurable where they are characterized by the progressive degeneration of nerve cells and they may result in impaired movement, and problems in mental functioning (Neurodegenerative Diseases)
This refers to the decrease in functioning of an organism due to an older age (Kelly, n.d.). This is considered on of the main hallmarks of cellular aging where the non-functional cell will eventually die.
