I would love to use articles such as this one in my class to prompt discussions about how music and access to musical instruments impact people's lives outside of an educational setting; some of the content in this article would also be a good place to discuss the different opportunities that my students are afforded (such as instrument lessons in school) that may not be available to students in other places. I love that Newsela has quizzes that correspond with each article, and I am also a huge fan of the capability to share the article right into the Google Classroom with just a couple of clicks. This could be a very beneficial resource as I look to incorporate more discussion of current events in music.
