AFA at UTD volunteers will lead poetry, art, and/or music classes for Alzheimer's disease seniors and caregivers at local Dallas nursing homes:
New Horizon Homes Assisted Living
Manchester Homes Assisted Living
Poetry initiatives are in partnership with The Apollo Project (https://alz-apolloproject.weebly.com/) and the national Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
Applicants that demonstrate reliability and service orientation will be interviewed by AFA at UTD officers to evaluate their commitment and leadership. Applicants who are then offered positions as volunteers will attend a mandatory training session to prepare them for working with the Alzheimer's disease patient population. Volunteering begins the last week of September 2026.
