Aethyss Apps ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application Aethyss Launcher ("the App") handles your information.
Aethyss Launcher is a home screen replacement with a built-in AI assistant called Nyx. Most of your data stays on your device. When you choose to use AI-powered features, some data is sent to third-party services (Google Gemini, and optionally ElevenLabs) to provide those features. This policy explains exactly what is sent, when, and why.
To improve app stability and understand how features are used, we use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, services provided by Google. The following anonymous technical information may be collected:
Device type, model, and Android version
App version
Crash logs and stack traces
General device state at time of crash
Anonymous feature usage events (e.g., which icon styles are popular, AI content reports submitted by users)
This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. It is used solely to diagnose bugs and improve the app.
Aethyss Launcher includes an AI assistant called Nyx, powered by Google Gemini (a third-party AI service by Google). When you interact with Nyx, the following data may be sent to Google Gemini:
Chat messages you type or speak to Nyx
Screen text (only when you explicitly ask Nyx to read your screen — see Accessibility Service section below)
Images you share with Nyx for analysis (e.g., "What's in this image?")
AI icon and image generation prompts when you ask Nyx to create icons or images
This data is sent to Google Gemini solely to generate a response for you. We do not store your conversations on our servers. Chat history is kept locally on your device and can be cleared at any time.
Google Gemini is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Generative AI Terms.
The App includes an optional Accessibility Service called "Nyx Screen Reader." This service is used for one purpose: to read the text currently displayed on your screen when you explicitly ask Nyx to do so (for example, by saying "What's on my screen?").
What data is involved:
The visible text from whatever app you have open at that moment (such as websites, messages, or other on-screen content)
How this data is used:
The screen text is sent to Google Gemini (a third party) so Nyx can understand and describe what is on your screen
This only happens when you ask — it does not run in the background
The screen text is not stored, saved, or shared for any other purpose
You must grant explicit consent through an in-app disclosure before this service is enabled. You can disable it at any time in your device's Settings → Accessibility → Nyx Screen Reader.
If you choose to enable realistic voice for Nyx, your text responses may be sent to ElevenLabs (a third-party text-to-speech service) to generate spoken audio. This requires you to provide your own ElevenLabs API key. No voice data is stored by us.
ElevenLabs is subject to ElevenLabs' Privacy Policy.
The App includes an in-app reporting feature that allows you to flag AI-generated content (text or images) as inappropriate. When you submit a report, the following is logged via Firebase Analytics:
The type of content reported (text or image)
The reason you selected
A brief preview of the reported content
A timestamp
This information is used to improve content safety and is handled according to Google's Firebase policies.

❌ We do not track your precise location (coarse location is used only for weather features and is not stored)

❌ We do not sell or share your data with data brokers or advertisers
Aethyss Launcher requests certain permissions to function as your home screen and AI assistant. Here is why each permission is needed:

Keeps Nyx's voice wake word listening active when enabled
All permissions are used solely for the stated purposes. Many features (SMS, Contacts, Phone, Camera, Calendar) are controlled by Creator Access toggles within the App, allowing you to enable or disable each capability individually.
All your launcher settings, including:
App folders and organization
Hidden apps and quick apps
Theme and icon style preferences
Gesture configurations
Nyx conversation history
Nyx memory and learned preferences
...are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
The App includes a backup/restore feature that saves your settings to your device's Downloads folder. These backup files remain on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.

Each service is subject to its own privacy policy as linked above.
Aethyss Launcher does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 years of age. The App does not require account creation or personal data submission. AI features require a user-provided API key, which is stored only on the device.
Your launcher settings and conversation history are stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by:
Clearing the app's data in Android Settings
Using the "Clear Conversation" option in Nyx chat
Uninstalling the app
Since we do not maintain servers that store your personal data, there is no remote data to request deletion of.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
