Privacy Policy - Aero Scan: PDF Scanner and Editor
Developer: Orca Studios
Effective date: 8 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information the mobile app Aero Scan: PDF Scanner and Editor ("the app", "we") handles when you use it, and the choices you have. The short version: the app has no accounts and no servers of its own, everything you scan stays on your device, text recognition runs on the device, and the only third party involved is Google AdMob, which serves the advertisements.
1. INFORMATION THE APP STORES ON YOUR DEVICE
The pages you scan, the PDFs you create or import, the text extracted with OCR, your drafts and your settings are saved only in the app's private storage on your own device. They are never uploaded, and we cannot see them. Deleting a document in the app, or uninstalling the app, permanently removes this data. Files leave your device only when you yourself choose to save them to your Downloads folder or share them by email, WhatsApp or another app; from that moment they are handled by the app you chose. The app does not ask for your name, email address, contacts or precise location, and contains no login or registration.
2. CAMERA AND PHOTOS
The camera is used solely to capture documents through the system document scanner (Google ML Kit on Android, VisionKit on iOS). Photos you choose to import are read once and processed on the device. The app does not access your camera or photo library in the background and does not request the general photo-library permission.
3. TEXT RECOGNITION (OCR)
Text recognition uses Google ML Kit's on-device models. The images and the recognised text never leave your phone for recognition and are not sent to Google or to us.
4. ADVERTISING (GOOGLE ADMOB)
The app shows advertisements through Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To select, deliver, measure and secure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK inside the app may automatically collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID and similar device identifiers;
- IP address, from which an approximate (city-level) location may be inferred;
- device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
- ad interaction data, for example which ads were shown, viewed or tapped, and whether a rewarded video was completed;
- diagnostic data about ad performance and crashes of the ad components.
This data is processed by Google and its certified advertising partners according to their own policies. We do not receive it, do not store it, and do not sell it. Learn more:

5. YOUR ADVERTISING CHOICES
European Economic Area / United Kingdom: on first launch you are shown a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) where you decide how your data may be used for advertising. You can change your choices at any time in Settings -> Privacy options inside the app.
All users: you can reset or delete your device's advertising ID in your phone's system settings (Settings -> Google -> Ads on most Android phones), which limits ad personalisation. Watching a rewarded video to remove the watermark or unlock text extraction is always optional.
6. CHILDREN
The app is a general-audience productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the advertising components, please contact us and we will point you to the appropriate Google removal process.
7. DATA SHARING AND SELLING
We do not sell, rent or trade any user data. The only data flow to third parties is the automatic advertising data described in section 4, which goes directly from your device to Google. Documents are shared with other apps or services only when you explicitly choose to share or save them.
8. SECURITY AND RETENTION
Ad-related data is transmitted to Google over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We ourselves retain no user data: everything the app creates lives on your device and is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app. PDFs you protect with a password are encrypted with AES-256 on your device; the password is never stored. Data held by Google is retained according to Google's retention policies: https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention
9. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data. Because the advertising data described above is processed by Google, such requests are best directed through Google's My Ad Center (https://myadcenter.google.com/) and the in-app consent controls. For anything else, contact us using the address below.
10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we add features that change how data is handled, we will update this policy and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app's store listing notes.
