Tiger Circles: Duty to God

Learn About the Adventure

Current requirements can be seen HERE as well as found in your rank manual - along with great ideas for completion. We guide you through the completion of the requirements in bold below.

NOTE: #1, #4, and #5 can be led by a den leader or done independently. The majority of #2 and #3 should be led by the family to ensure household values & beliefs are explored. It may be possible that, if your chartered organization is religious, they may host a class to earn the religious emblem.

Complete Requirement 1 plus at least two others.

  1. Discuss with your parent, guardian, den leader, or other caring adult what it means to do your duty to God. Tell how you do your duty to God in your daily life.

  2. With a family member, attend a religious service or other activity that shows how your family expresses reverence for God.

  3. Earn the religious emblem of your faith that is appropriate for your age or grade.

  4. Help with a local service project and talk with your den or family about how helping others is part of our duty to God.

  5. With the approval of your parent/guardian, den leader, or other caring adult, think of and then carry out an act of kindness or respect that you think shows duty to God.

#1 | Discussion

Directions: Participate in a discussion about what ‘Duty to God’ means and how it affects your daily life. Use the following as a guide and prompt.

  • A Scout is reverent toward God. He or she respects the beliefs of others. Reverent means to have a faith, to believe in that faith, and to make your faith stronger by practicing it.

  • Things your family does or items you have around your home may be symbols of your faith:

    • Do you pray before you eat or go to bed at night?

    • Each day, do you express love and kindness to one another?

    • Do you participate in acts of service and help those in need?

    • Donating items like food and coats is a great service to others.

#2 | Participate

Attend a worship service with your family. If your family does not take part in organized faith groups this is an opportunity to explore other places of worship or hold a worship activity at home. Families should determine what kind of worship is best for their household.

#3 | Religious Emblem

This option will need to be completed independently as it is specific to your faith and family. For more information speak to your religious organization and/ or charter to see if they can or will offer a class.
