Conversational Design is a relatively new technology that enables a designer to "talk" to a CAD software with integrated AI/ML that translates "normal" speech into digital designs. Think 'ChatGPT for CAD'
This enables designers to design things at the same rate of thought/speech/ideas, and enables extremely rapid exploration and iteration of designs
Conversational Design has great potential not just to assist in the creation of designs for existing designers, but also enable those without CAD skills and traditional CAD mentalities to create innovative designs - this has great alignment potential forÂ
Additionally, conversational design can enable certain physically impaired individuals that are unable to interact with CAD software with traditional means (mouse + keyboard) to be able to design objects via interface technologies such as speech-to-text
Very limited in capability:
Currently unable to just say "Design me a V6 engine that has 123cc and outputs 100hp" and have it create a working design, or anywhere near it
You can achieve the same targeted end result iteratively, however; "Create two 100mm diameter cylinders intersecting at the base at a 60 degree angle", followed by "now hollow out those cylinders, to create an internal volume of 123cc", and so on...
