I am a development economist, specialising in public finance and taxation, with a regional focus on East Africa. Much of my work is conducted in close collaboration with national Revenue Authorities.
I have recently completed my PhD in Economics at the University of Sussex, jointly supervised by Professor Giulia Mascagni and Professor Amalavoyal Chari. I also work as a researcher for the International Centre for Tax and Development, based at the Institute of Development Studies.Â
I hold a MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford (2017) and a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Cape Town (2015). Prior to starting my PhD, I was an ODI Fellow in the Tax Policy Department at the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in Kampala, Uganda.
