Ao Oni Soroban Puzzle
Ao Oni Soroban Puzzle
The soroban puzzle is exclusive to Ao Oni Version 5.2.
The puzzle uses a form of Japanese abacus known as a soroban.
Included in the downloads for Version 5.2 should either be a readme text file or an image file that explains the puzzle.
For the sake of consistency, here's how to solve the puzzle.
It is required for a four-digit combination later on in the game.
Since the puzzle is randomized every playthrough, the numbers will always be different.
To help explain the puzzle, let's use this example below.
In this frame, we can see letters "PASS", a solid black line, and black dots.
Each letter of "PASS" acts as a different digit to the four-digit combination.
The solid black line is what determines
which dots mean something and which ones mean nothing.
The trick is the value of the dots when they touch the line.
If dots are above the line, and are touching, they represent 5.
If dots are below the line, and are touching, they represent 1.
For example, the "P" column has one dot above the line and one dot below, both are touching.
The top dot represents 5, the bottom dot represents 1. We add them together.
That gives us 6 for the P column.
If there are multiple "1" dots that are touching each other,
and are touching the line, they need to be added up.
For example, the "A" column. There's a "5" dot touching the line,
then there are two "1" dots touching each other and touching the line.
The dots at the bottom are touching each other, but aren't touching the line, so they are not counted.
We add up the "1" dots that are touching each other and the line, then we add the "5" dot, to get 7 for the A column.
To better visualize it all, here's what each dot represents based on these rules:
The numbers here should result in a code of: 6751
Remember these rules and steps, then you should be able to
solve the soroban puzzle no matter what numbers you get.
