I had a task to read page size of documents like: .doc, .docx, pdf, xls and now i need to count a page size of .adoc document. I googled a lot but didn't find anything familiar for this problem. For .doc, .docx im using Apache POI Java libraries.

I don't think it is possible on the adoc file itself because that is only defining the textual formatting of the text. A 'compiler' will transform it either in a PDF or HTML artifact, (possibly also other formats).

Then either point your browser at a remote AsciiDoc URL or create a new file locally (e.g. helloworld.adoc), enter some text in it with your favorite editor, and then point your browser to it (e.g. file:///home/ggrossetie/helloworld.adoc).

If I were to rename or move modules/ROOT/pages/reference/how-to-install-debian.adoc any cross-references to it, throughout every page in any of the content sources, and in the navigation file will be updated.

This format is intended for signing documents but is not the most suitable for editing or rewriting them. This is because many common text document programs will not open ADOC files. Their content can be checked with special ADOC reader programs. You can also download every document via the Mark Sign platform.

This Bitbucket Server addon will bring AsciiDoc visualisation directly into the repository view. Once the plugin is enabled, you will automatically see a rendition of any file with extensions asciidoc, adoc or asc.

There have been several bug-fixes and improvements in glTF reader within 7.6.0 related to assembly structure that might affect your particular file. Previously the reader might erroneously "swallow" some levels of hierarchy defined within glTF file (in "nodes" section) having only single child node.

Cayce had always been an avid reader, beginning as a small child, "devouring everything from dinosaur books and science fiction to astronomy and encyclopedias," he wrote in one of many letters he's sent me over the years. Today Cayce is 53, incarcerated at St. Clair prison in Springville. We met in 2014 through my reporting on Alabama's prison crisis, but I now consider Cayce a dear friend.

Another fellow reader and writer I have gotten to know over the years is Hasani Jennings. Like Cayce, Hasani has spent his entire adult life in prison for a fatal shooting he committed during a robbery when he was a teenager. Hasani grew up poor, in and out of the custody of his mother who suffered from mental illness. Although he was a gifted student, his grades began to suffer, and as an adolescent he began drinking heavily before he committed his crime.

The people incarcerated at Donaldson, especially avid readers like Cayce, felt blindsided by the new rules. At the time, Cayce subscribed to The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Book Review, Harper's, The Atlantic, Chess Life, Inside Chess, Paper Mayhem, Science News, and Scientific American, none of them on the approved list. "So, the mailroom promptly stopped allowing me to receive my magazines," Cayce wrote. "All of this gave us the opportunity to file a lawsuit with the objective of restoring access to periodicals and leveraging the absurdity of the rule to establish a realistic procedure for inmates to order their own books."

To provide a common set of variables when rendering the preview, the extension reads an .asciidoctorconfig or .asciidoctorconfig.adoc configuration file. Use this to optimize the preview when the project contains a document that is split out to multiple include-files.

One major issue is that readers do not know what they are up against. Even if they are on a page that is still up to date, they cannot know, so they do not trust any page and stop to link/distribute it. The Docs have no value for them. All obsolete Docs contribute to the reputation of and trust in Docs.

With this approach, we can keep all our Docs, but the readers would be in a position where they know what they are up against. And this can be a foundation on which trust can rise. Trust + some valuable content might increase readership, and increased readership might bring authors+maintainers.

However, the automated warning based upon information in the adoc file (invisible to readers) would be my first goal because we can achieve it with the resources we have, and it can achieve a trust-foundation. It might be complemented by an automated second sentence in the warning if a page has no maintainer (based upon your approach; or whatever we call it): e.g.,

If the preprocessor extension reads lines from the reader, it will cause side effects. One of these side effects is that document attributes in the header may not be interpreted correctly.Another is that it may interfere with line number tracking. If the extension adds or removes lines, the parser could produce misleading line number information. Thus, interacting with the reader in a prepreprocessor extension should be avoided, if possible.

Maintaining long delimiter lines is a colossal waste of time, not to mention arbitrary and error prone.I strongly urge you to use the minimum number of characters necessary to form a delimited block and move on to drafting the content. The reader will never see these long strings of delimiters anyway since they are not carried over to the output (HTML, DocBook, etc).

Another method provided by the Asciidoctor interface is convertDirectory. This method converts all of the files with AsciiDoc extensions (.adoc (preferred), .ad, .asciidoc, .asc) that are present within a specified folder and following given strategy.

A utility class AsciiDocDirectoryWalker is available for searching the AsciiDoc files present in a root folder and its subfolders.AsciiDocDirectoryWalker locates all files that end with .adoc, .ad, .asciidoc or .asc.Also it ignores all files starting with underscore (_).

A utility class GlobDirectoryWalker is available for searching the AsciiDoc files present in a root folder and scanning using a Glob expression.GlobDirectoryWalker locates all files that end with .adoc, .ad, .asciidoc or .asc.

Snippets are bounded by "tag" comments placed at the start and end of the section you would like to import. Opening tags look like: // tag::snippetName[]. Closing tags follow the format: // end::snippetName[]. Snippets can be dropped into an .adoc file using an include directive, following the format: include::PathToFileWithSnippet[tag=snippetName]. Note that when relative paths are provided in these directives, those paths are resolved relative to the location of the AsciiDoc file that the include appears in.

In order for editors (such as ATOM) to be able to offer "live preview" of the *.adoc files using these includes, the solr-root-path attribute must also be set as a document level attribute in each file, with the correct relative path.

Here's a simple example of an AsciiDoc document, which you can create using any text editor or even a word processor (like LibreOffice) as long as you save the file as plain text. Most applications expect a plain text document to use the extension .txt, and while it's a convention use the extension .adoc for AsciiDoc, it's not necessary. Asciidoctor doesn't require any special extension.
