All I do is download another book. Doesn't matter if you actually want to read it, somehow after downloading a second book, the kobo can magically read the original book I downloaded. It only shows the error for the last book I downloaded. So if I download a second book right away, I can read the book I want. Sounds weird, but it works for me every time. I sure hope this all gets fixed in future versions and I can go back to just downloading one book at a time.

I have just started going through similar crap. I have successfully used Adobe digital editions 2.0 with on my desktop and a KOBOtouch e-reader for a few years. I even ran digital editions 4.0 on my laptop with the KOBO no problems. After not using my KOBO for a couple of months I wanted to start using it again downloading from a public library with digital editions 2.0. It worked on the desktop but could not transfer and start reading on the the KOBO due to DRM problems. I noticed an update for KOBO so I performed that ok.

Still didnt work DRM problems. I then decided to go to v4.5 of digital editions. After many iterations of authorizing and de-authorizing the desktop finally reading on Digital editions works fine on the desktop, but the authorization for the KOBO is not possible because the authorization menu does nothing. Anybody have any advise ?

This book is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM). Because you previously deauthorized your eReader, you need to re-import the book using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). Please visit help.kobo.com for more information.

When I download a book from my public library I can open it in digital editions 4.5 but when I transfer it to my device (kobo) and try to open it on the kobo it says "This book is protected by DRM. Because you previously deauthorized your eReader, you need to re-import the book using Adobe Digital Editions." I tried erasing authorization and setting git up again but it still won't work. Erased and downloaded a new edition of ADE, that didn't work either. Tried different books and libraries but still have problem. Called kobo and after troubleshooting with them they say it as ADE problem. Please please please help! Thank you!

As a librarian who frequently troubleshoots ereader issues with patrons... I don't know either! Lol! I've been having this issue too on my Kobo for months. I had followed these instructions a couple times and it worked, but even this has stopped working now: -editions-discussions/kobo-won-t-open-library-book-because-ere...

I just resolved my issue! I tried all the same things as you, spoke to Kobo for ages and nothing there helped, and tried reauthorizing my kobo, redownloading adobe digital editions etc but no luck anywhere. Finally I erased my computer's authorization... this does mean I lost all access to the current library books in my library, but I then authorized it (with overdrive as my new ID) and every book I've downloaded since I've had no problem with reading. Hope this helps you too!

I want to thank you so much for this! I really appreciate your explanation and am so happy I can do this without having to even connect my device anymore. I like to check digital books out from my local library and was a pain to take out my PC or Mac laptops when my chromebook was so small and light. I was able to checkout and download the book, put it through the Adobe Digital Editions app, and move the .epub file from the ADE app file folder into my google drive folder and it synced to my Kobo! I am seriously so happy right now and appreciate you greatly.

Our municipal library sends a *.acsm file by mail when we borrow a e-book, but I'm fed up with having to bother my wife to use her Windows account and we must reboot 'tween nix and doze.Adobe digital editions needs Wine and .Net35SP1.So Wine is installed, but the .Net35SP1 installer (dotnetfx35setup.exe) does not connect to download the needed files. Is the server down or is there another and easier way to install ADE?I've been trying all weekend.

While OverDrive digital collections are available through thousands of libraries worldwide (including the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh system) accessing popular titles through ULS, with its smaller user group, can reduce the wait for popular items, Smith noted. ff782bc1db
