We have 3 PDF readers that is used in our company. The PDF readers are the following: Foxit Reader, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC. Why we have 3 PDF readers you may ask. Well, that is because we have a few people using a Adobe Acrobat DC (which is the paid version). Most of our people are using Foxit Reader, but we are thinking about changing to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

My problem being: I need to make sure that Microsoft Edge is not the default PDF reader. We need to let the people using the paid version of Acrobat, have that as default. And we need to make sure that the other people are using what they have.

It lists running processes and if you are lucky, also the opened file (as command line parameter). If you look for "AcroRd32.exe" or "Foxit Reader.exe" , you find the path of the reader and of the opened file. With some string operations or RegExMatch you could easily isolate the path from the variable.

This article describes the protected PDF readers that are supported for Azure Information Protection (AIP). Protected PDF readers enable users to open those encrypted PDFs and view the sensitive information contained.

Encrypting your PDFs with AIP ensures that unauthorized people cannot read the file's content. Protected PDF readers that support AIP verify that you've been granted permissions to open the document, and also decrypt the content for you.

If you're unable to open your protected PDF using the recommended reader, the document may be protected in a previous format. For example, Microsoft SharePoint currently uses an older format for PDF documents in IRM-protected libraries.

so are you confusing acrobat reader with the acrobat 8 application? if not i dont see why a one gig install is so frustrating, newer gen apps take more and more hd space, just how it is and a one gig footprint aint that much in my humble opinion.

I have a bunch of PDF files that I've added bookmarks to in Preview, and was hoping I would be able to see them in Adobe Reader (to insure other people reading the documents would be able to use them) but when I load Adobe Reader there is no Bookmark option at all. I don't know if this is because Reader doesn't recognize the bookmarks, or some other problem. Has anyone gotten bookmarks to work across different PDF readers? Thanks.

Okay, now I see that the Foxit bookmarks show up in Preview in the Table of Contents section. So weird. So basically Preview's bookmarks have nothing to do with bookmarks in other PDF readers. Is there a way to create a Table of Contents in Preview, or can it only see the ones created in other programs?

Depending on how much time you wish to expend in testing, you will find incompatibilities between Preview, Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Reader DC, and Skim. If you standardize on a single reader, and the standard is the most recent Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (v2019.010 for Mojave), then the interoperability issues cease.

From my experience I have found that it does not work well will 64 bit Wine so you may want to make a wine prefix (32 bit) and install it there. You can go to link below for steps to install on Linux: -pdf-reader-in-ubuntu.html

Talos has identified four use-after-free vulnerabilities in Foxit Reader. The reader includes Javascript support to enable dynamic documents and multimedia content, which can be viewed interactively. A specially crafted PDF document can trigger the reuse of previously freed memory, which can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker needs to trick a user into opening a malicious file to trigger these vulnerabilities.

Users are encouraged to update these affected products as soon as possible: Foxit Reader 12.0.1.12430. Talos tested and confirmed these versions of the reader could be exploited by these vulnerabilities.

I have long used Adobe Reader to open PDF documents. I recently installed the Foxit plug-in and it made itself the default PDF reader. How do I set up the system so that when i click on a PDF I will get some sort of "Open With" pop-up window so I can choose which reader to use? ff782bc1db
