Starting next school year, Newsela will offer a new library of decodable texts designed specifically for middle and high school students who need continued support with foundational reading skills. These new texts will help students practice essential phonics patterns in age-appropriate, engaging ways that build confidence and unlock access to more complex content.

With Newsela Writing, students receive scaffolded, rubric-aligned feedback instantly. Your teachers will benefit from real-time insight into student progress, making it easier to provide targeted, effective feedback. Learn more.
Teachers can now access Newsela Writing straight from their Newsela toolbar → Click on the grid at the upper-top left corner of Newsela > select Newsela Writing.
