If you want a rugged, wired over-ear solution with extended bass and professional DJ durability for small ears, choose adj American Audio; if you need zero-latency wireless monitoring with an in-ear design that fits comfortably for long studio sessions, choose Depusheng Ear Monitor System. These two devices serve fundamentally different purposes, yet both have found their place among musicians and audio professionals who prioritize specific performance traits. The choice between them isn't about which is "better" in a vacuum, but rather which architecture solves your specific problem. One is built to be worn over the head while plugged into a mixer or amplifier, designed to withstand the rigors of a stage floor. The other is a compact, battery-powered system that sits inside the ear canal, offering freedom of movement without sacrificing real-time audio feedback.
• adj American Audio: Strength lies in its heavy-duty construction, extended bass response (5Hz–30kHz), and included carrying bag; trade-off is the wired nature and lack of wireless mobility. Best for DJs and live performers who need a durable, over-ear monitor that connects directly to standard audio gear.
• Depusheng Ear Monitor System: Strength lies in its ultra-low latency wireless transmission, 8-hour battery life, and ergonomic in-ear comfort for long wear; trade-off is the lower impedance and reliance on battery charging cycles. Best for guitarists, vocalists, and studio engineers who need silent, wireless monitoring without cable clutter.
The adj American Audio HP700 is a classic piece of hardware designed with the professional DJ and live sound engineer in mind. Its primary identity is that of a robust, over-ear headphone built to handle high volumes and frequent use. When I look at the specifications, the first thing that stands out is the frequency range. With a range extending from 5Hz to 30kHz, this unit captures sub-bass frequencies that many consumer headphones simply cannot reproduce. This makes it an excellent tool for mixing music where the low-end detail is critical. The dynamic driver type supports this wide spectrum, ensuring that the sound remains clear even when pushed to the limit.
The physical build is equally significant. Weighing 16 ounces, these are not lightweight earbuds; they are substantial pieces of equipment. The enclosure material is rubber, which provides a tactile grip and likely helps dampen vibrations during intense performances. The ear placement is over-ear, meaning the cups surround the entire ear rather than sitting inside it. For users with smaller ears, this can sometimes feel bulky, but the design intent here is isolation and durability. The product comes with a carrying case, acknowledging that this is a travel companion for professionals moving between venues. It also includes two adapters—one straight and one right-angle—both being 1/4-inch stereo adapters. This attention to connectivity means it plugs directly into the majority of professional DJ mixers and PA systems without needing extra dongles.

However, there are limitations you must accept before buying. The control method is touch-based, yet the noise control feature is listed as "None." This means the headphones rely entirely on the passive isolation provided by the ear cup design to block out ambient noise. There is no active cancellation technology to help you focus in a loud club environment. This creates a necessary distinction: this is primarily a wired device. If you are looking for a completely untethered experience where you can walk away from the mixing board, this unit will not fit that workflow. It is a stationary monitor that demands a physical connection to function.
This product is ideal for someone who values sound fidelity above all else and doesn't mind managing cables. It is perfect for the DJ who needs to hear the exact low-frequency punch of a track to cue it up perfectly. The extended bass capability ensures that the rhythm section is never lost. However, if you are a performer who needs to move around a stage, sing into a microphone, or play an instrument while hearing yourself, the weight and the wire might become a hindrance. You should skip this option if you require wireless freedom or if you find over-ear designs uncomfortable due to pressure on the outer ear. It is a tool for the booth, not necessarily for the stage.
In stark contrast to the heavy, wired approach of the adj model, the Depusheng Ear Monitor System is engineered for mobility and precision. This is a true wireless in-ear monitoring system, utilizing RF (Radio Frequency) technology to transmit audio signals with what the manufacturer describes as zero latency. For a musician, latency is the enemy. Even a fraction of a second delay between playing a note and hearing it can throw off timing and pitch. The Depusheng system claims to use ultra-low latency technology to ensure virtually no delay, allowing users to hear their own voice or instrument in real time. This makes it a viable alternative to traditional wedge monitors that often take up valuable stage space.
The design philosophy here centers on ergonomics and battery life. The earpiece shape is listed as in-ear, which is a game-changer for people with smaller ears who struggle with the bulk of over-ear cans. The description emphasizes that the ergonomic design allows for comfortable wear for long periods without fatigue. This is crucial for long gigs or multi-hour recording sessions. The system includes a transmitter that clips on, making it easy to mount on a belt or clothing, and a receiver that connects directly to the in-ear monitors. The battery life is a standout feature, offering over 8 hours of operation once fully charged, with a charge time of just 2 hours. This level of endurance means you can get through a full day of touring or a long studio session without worrying about power.
Another key advantage is the sensitivity and pickup capabilities. The built-in highly sensitive condenser microphone allows the system to capture the soundtrack of an instrument clearly and realistically. With a transmission distance of over 50 meters, you have plenty of room to roam the stage or move freely within a large studio. The system also features environmental noise cancellation, which helps isolate the monitor signal from background chatter and crowd noise. The controls are simple push buttons, and the pairing process is automated, taking only a few seconds after turning on the devices.
Who should buy this? It is best suited for guitarists, vocalists, and keyboard players who need to hear themselves accurately without the clunky overhead of large headphones. The in-ear design is particularly relevant for those seeking the best multipoint wireless headset for small ears or anyone looking for best rotatable ear cups earphones alternatives that actually stay put. However, there are trade-offs. The impedance is listed at 21.8 ohms, which is lower than the 64 ohms of the adj model. While this usually implies easier driving, it may affect the overall power handling and dynamic range compared to a dedicated pro headphone. Additionally, because it relies on batteries, you must manage charging. If you forget to charge the units before a show, the system is useless. It is also a specialized piece of gear; if you don't need wireless monitoring or in-ear isolation, this might be overkill. You should skip this if you prefer the simplicity of a direct plug-and-play wired connection without the complexity of transmitters and receivers.
