Based on Wang Meng's Yuan Dynasty landscape painting Thatch Cottage in the Western Suburb, this 3D reconstruction uses fog, light, shadow, and day-to-night transitions to "translate" the traditional Chinese aesthetic of blank space (liubai) into a language familiar to modern viewers.
