December Online Rohatsu Sesshin

"Together with all beings, sentient or insentient, with grasses and trees, together with the great earth, I attain the Buddha Way," uttered Shakyamuni Buddha. With his great enlightenment, Shakyamuni, the World-Honoured One, attained perfect liberation. He came to life, to true life, to liberation—which is our birthright, our essence. (Harada Tangen Roshi).

In our Rohatsu sesshin we commemorate and engage deeply with the great matter of the Buddha's awakening. Awakening is the point of Zen. The liberation it brings is available to us all. It is our birthright.

Our Rohatsu begins at 7.00pm, Thursday 12 December and concludes at 5 pm, on Sunday 15 December. Please note: all times are Australian Central Standard (Adelaide). Participants from other time zones will need to adjust accordingly.  "Rohatsu" (Japanese for "eighth day of the twelfth month") is the day Zen Buddhists throughout the world observe the Buddha's enlightenment.

This Sesshin will be provided in an at-home, online format and will be led by Allan Marett Roshi and Peter Bursky Sensei. Allan is a teacher of the Adelaide Zen Group. He was appointed as a Diamond Sangha teacher in 2012, and received transmission from Subhana Barzaghi Roshi in 2018. Peter is an apprentice teacher in the Diamond Sangha tradition and teaches at the Sydney Zen Centre.

The format of this sesshin is highly flexible. Applicants can sign up for full time or part time. While attendance at the opening evening is compulsory, participants can attend for as many or as few blocks as possible.
