Assist unemployed and under-employed veterans with gaining meaningful, long-term employment. Services focus on providing veterans with the tools and resources they need to overcome employment barriers, including comprehensive individualized assessment, resume and job readiness development, vocational counseling, and job placement assistance.

Veterans can qualify for services in several different ways: experiencing homelessness, low-income, have a misdemeanor or felony, released from the military in the last 36 months, fleeing a domestic violence situation, or Vietnam War veterans that were in Vietnam between 1955 and 1975 or between 1964 and 1975 in any location.

DONKA's student-driven computer training is intensive and individualized. The focus of the training is on using Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, and Access in conjunction with any needed assistive technology. Students learn while working either one-on-one or two-on-two through realistic business scenarios including working on deadline-driven assignments that teach accountability to students.
Residents of the DuPage Care Center and Veterans receive free services. DONKA is a non-profit their foundation pays for half the cost of all services. DONKA staff will assist clients in getting the other half of their costs subsidized through grant funding, such as WIOA.

The Freedom Commissary serves veterans of all eras and branches, and eligibility is based on income (below 250% of the federal poverty line).
Freedom Commissary is available once a month by a appointment to meet the household and basic needs of veterans and their families. Items include household goods, hygiene products, cleaning products, paper goods, small scale furniture, and small kitchen appliances.
