Must be 60+, live in DuPage County, be homebound and unable to cook for yourself. Must be home to receive meals.
Hot, ready-to-eat, nutritious meals, low salt and low cholesterol. Vegetarian, diabetic, puree, and mechanical meals available. Frozen meals available for weekends and holidays. All of the meals that DSCC provides through the Meals on Wheels service are low salt and low cholesterol. We also provide vegetarian, diabetic and pureed meals. The meals we provide are prepared under the guidance of a Registered Dietician to make sure that they meet the 1/3 Dietary Reference Intake established by the U.S. Government for adults 60 years old and over.

Small home repairs and maintenance are $40. Contractors provide a discounted rate.
DSCC has skilled and knowledgeable staff who provide small home repairs that are usually too minor to call a contractor. Referrals provided for larger repairs. Contractors are prescreened, licensed and insured. Yard Clean-Ups done in the fall and spring by volunteers.

Event/activity costs are divided into two categories: Member and Nonresident. Members receive discounted pricing on Senior Club programming. Membership is $25 a year for district residents and $45 a year for non-residents.

Weekly meeting at noon on Tuesdays. A variety of events and activities are hosted throughout each month. A "Senior Highlights" newsletter with event and activity details is available at the Community Rec Center.

Through the H.E.L.P program, the Addison Fire District brings together a caring community of those who need the equipment and the generous community member who donate to the program. We can continue to serve persons who are able to recover or convalesce in the privacy of their own residence, thus preserving their respect and dignity during a time of personal need. The equipment available from the Addison Fire District is provided free of charge, without cost to the patient, their family members, or caregivers. The District accepts and loans the following equipment items: Walkers of all types, Crutches, Reachers, Tub benches, Canes, Wheelchairs.

$4.00 each way to 421 and 111 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. All other destinations are $1.50 for the first 6 miles and $1.50 each mile after that.
Senior: 60 and under 200% of poverty. Disabled: Any age under 200% poverty. Low-Income: 200% of poverty for non seniors/disabled.
If receiving Medicaid/TANF cannot use program for medical trips.

DONKA's student-driven computer training is intensive and individualized. The focus of the training is on using Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, and Access in conjunction with any needed assistive technology. Students learn while working either one-on-one or two-on-two through realistic business scenarios including working on deadline-driven assignments that teach accountability to students.
Residents of the DuPage Care Center and Veterans receive free services. DONKA is a non-profit their foundation pays for half the cost of all services. DONKA staff will assist clients in getting the other half of their costs subsidized through grant funding, such as WIOA.

A key box is commercially made, secure steel box in which residents can place the keys to their home for rapid access by emergency crews. These boxes are then secured to the resident’s home. These boxes can only be accessed by Fire District firefighters/paramedics and Fire inspectors by a single key that is securely kept locked on all fire apparatus and ambulances within the Addison Fire protection District. A key box can be obtained, free of charge, directly from and installed by the Addison Fire Protection District. Once a resident no longer needs the key box, they can return it to the Fire District and the key(s) to their home will be removed and given back to the resident.
