Frozen meals available for weekends and holidays.   All of the meals that DSCC provides through the Meals on Wheels service are low salt and low cholesterol. We also provide vegetarian, diabetic and pureed meals. The meals we provide are prepared under the guidance of a Registered Dietician to make sure that they meet the 1/3 Dietary Reference Intake established by the U.S. Government for adults 60 years old and over.

DSCC has skilled and knowledgeable staff who provide small home repairs that are usually too minor to call a contractor. Referrals provided for larger repairs. Contractors are prescreened, licensed and insured. Yard Clean-Ups done in the fall and spring by volunteers.

The YWCA Medical and Criminal Justice Program helps to reduce the trauma and help with the healing process. Advocates will provide emotional support and information during the medical and criminal justice procedures to sexual assault survivors, non-significant others, and non-offending family members. Legal advocates provide support through police and court proceedings.

The YWCA administers the IDHS Child Care Assistance Program to help income-eligible parents pay for child care while they work or go to school. Copays may apply, but are waived for those experiencing homelessness or displacement.

Parent Educators visit qualifying families twice monthly, connecting families to concrete support in times of need, teaching them how to develop strong parent-child bonds, and offering child development screenings. Monthly group connections and age-appropriate book distribution are also important parts of their program. The curriculum used is Parents as Teachers.

Clients must register with the People's Resource Center. Families get 5 clothes points per person. Clothes cost one point per item. You have 30 minutes to shop and can visit 2 times each month. Please do not arrive early or late for you appointment. Masks are optional, but strongly recommended.

Care for Cars is a program of People’s Resource Center in partnership with the private sector, working together to provide affordable car repair for low income residents in order to conduct job searches or retain employment.

We provide gently used furniture, clothing and household items to families struggling at the poverty level with fire, flood, job loss, domestic violence relocation and veterans suffering from war trauma by providing them with the items they cannot afford to purchase.  

Provide valid photo ID, proof of income, address, individuals in the home. A representative will conduct an interview  which may require additional information on your behalf.
