The Living Room is a peer-led alternative to the traditional emergency room for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. It offers a comfortable, non-clinical environment where guests can feel safe, supported, and heard.
Upon arrival, each guest completes a brief safety screening and provides basic information. They are then paired with a trained peer support specialist—someone with lived experience—who provides empathetic listening, helps de-escalate the immediate crisis, and offers practical coping strategies and connections to additional resources.
