I’m Addie McIntire, a Teacher of Blind Students with an M.Ed and Deafblind Intervener Certification (IS). I work with blind and deafblind students, especially those with complex needs. I focus on building real access to learning, language, and connection. I care deeply about assent—every student’s right to say “yes,” “no,” or “not right now”—and I structure my teaching around trust, communication, respect, and high expectations. My goal is for students to feel successful and truly included. Over the past decade, I’ve worked in schools, residential settings, and advocacy spaces to push for access that actually works.
