Meet Our Team
Sherry Thomas - Adoption Coordinator
I have been doing rescue for over 10 years. I have always loved caring for pets. As a teenager in high school I would play hooky from school just to go volunteer at the local animal shelter. I fostered with Mostly Mutts for five years. Now for the past five years I run the Acworth Petco adoptions for Cherokee Humane Society. Each year my team adopts out 400 to 500 dogs. I have a team of 15-20 folks that foster and help with the daily running of this adoption site. I have about 5 local high schools with about 30 teenagers who volunteer at adoptions and with other tasks as needed. Without the teen volunteers I could not run adoptions and without fosters I could not save lives. I pull from about 10 different animal control shelters in GA, some have a kill rate as high as 98 percent! These dogs come to me in need of love and medical care both of which I give. I aim to adopt out healthy dogs, so if within the first 20 days you have any issues with your dog you can contact me for help. Of course, it is recommended you visit your vet within 20 days of adoption for a check up. I would love to have you as a foster, you can learn more about it here. I have a wonderful husband who supports my rescue obsession. I have a teenage son who helps a lot around the house cleaning up after the dogs. Without him I could not do this rescue work.
Dr. Ashley - All Animal Care
I was raised in the south, and I did my veterinary training at Auburn University. I pride myself on being very down to earth and straight forward. And yes! I even drive a pickup truck - a red one! All Animal Care is in the northwest Georgia farming communities, so our Doctors see a wide variety of animals and pet challenges in day to day work.
Dr. Mills - Mills Animal Hospital
Dr. Mills graduated with honors from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. Pursuing her dream, she went on to graduate from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine with her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Dr. Mills is very excited to be pursuing her dream and opening her very own animal hospital. She looks forward to serving the Acworth community and getting the opportunity to build relationships with you and your beloved pets!
Valerie McAnulty - Website Coordinator
I have always been an animal lover but never really had too many pets as a kid. Our family has had several pets in the past 16 years. We are all animal lovers. We got into fostering when my teenage daughter wanted to help in order to earn her Girl Scout Silver Award. And we have continued ever since. My daughter helps out at the adoption events on Saturdays and I post all the adoptable dogs online. I also work on this website and take photos when needed.
