We checked the settings in Chrome and it was not set to automatically open Adobe Reader after downloading the PDF, and the Adobe Reader extension was not installed, so we weren't sure why this was happening.

On Chrome I was able to turn it off by going to advanced settings and there was a box that said I had chosen to have some files automatically open after downloading. I disabled this and now it does not open them.

Open Adobe reader; Menu> Preferences> General> Deselect "Open PDFs automatically in Reader when they are downloaded in Chrome browser"> Scroll down click Okay (if you dont do this, it will not save the new setting)

# Get the latest version of Reader available from Adobe's About Reader page. latestver=`` while [ -z "$latestver" ] do latestver=/usr/bin/curl -s -L -A "$userAgent" -manifests/mac/AcrobatDC/reader/current_version.txt done

I checked this again, it seems that when the script goes to check for what version is the latest, it will find 21.001.20149 (on -manifests/mac/AcrobatDC/acrobat/current_version.txt), however, the link to download it doesn't seem to work: _2100120149_MUI.dmg

I want to provide PDF-documentation in my installer-software. The software should check if PDF is present and otherwise provide a link to acrobat reador download location. Is there any future-safe URL I can use?

I keep getting this in every browser. The document you are trying to load requires Adobe Reader 8 or Higher. You may not have Adobe Reader installed on your viewing environment may not be properly configured to use adobe reader.

The form you are attempting to open is a dynamic XFA form. These forms can only be opened in an XFA aware reader, which basically means Adobe Acrobat. You must download it and open it with acrobat/reader in order to view it.

Done some more research and it seams that a registry value needs to be read to set the correct product to reader. It might be possible to have a workaround in the agent to add the registry key and evidences, but will go for a ticket to the content team.

You are right Acrobat reader as a common add / remove program evidence, but no WMI. So, you could theoretically ignore the add / remove evidence and add the WMI... The issue is that you can't make WMI evidences clever (for instance 21.%.20%), unless inserting them in the database.

see attached for file evidence. I think one of the real problems is that AcroRd32.exe appears in both versions. However, acrobat.exe is unique to the Pro Install, as is AcroBroker and AcroDist. But the distiller version can differ from the executable. The Pro version executable has no file size, so not sure why that is not being distinguished from the Reader Version
