October 15th 2017

It’s official! You are all cordially invited to Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences’ 17-18 Winter Formal on December 2nd, 2017. Save the date!

On October 17th IPhO will be hosting a meeting in room VT310 at 12pm. Additionally, APhA will be holding a meeting on October 19th at 11:00am in room VT101.

Evy Smith, our counselor, is looking for 1-2 students who may be interested in participating in our upcoming tabling event for the Great American Smoke Out (GASO) on Thursday, November 16th at the University of Vermont Medical Center from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This will be an opportunity to educate individuals on nicotine replacement options. They will provide information and literature about the UVMMC Tobacco Cessation program and the Nicotine Replacement options to include the pharmaceutical methods (specifically Chantix & Zyban) of quitting tobacco. If there are a couple of students who may be interested, please contact Evy at: evelyn.smith@uvmhealth.org or call: (802) 847-6541.

SPADE is fundraising for Ulcerative Colitis and IBD research. They have a school wide goal of $100. They are collecting cash donations in the cafe and have a fundraising page:

ACPHS will be offering a CPR certification & recertification course. This is mandatory for your IPPE and APPE rotations. It will be hosted on campus 10/28 at 8 am and cost $20 for certification and $15 for recertification. It is open to alumni but the price for them will be $40 and $35 respectively. Make sure you arrive early and bring your own lunch. BRING CASH on the day of the event. Please sign up at the link below:

The Colchester Community Wellness Fair & Harvest Fest will be hosted on October 21 at Colchester High School and begin at 2:00 PM.

The Vermont Campus Flu Shot Clinic will take place on Thursday, October 12th from 10:30 - 12:30 in room 309k. You must present a current insurance card and your ACPHS ID card to receive a shot.

SSHP will be having their Residency Night on October 4th,2017 from 5:30pm-8:00pm. Pharmacists currently in the residency program and those who recently finished will explain the matching process, how to become a strong candidate, and any other questions students may have.

The sign up sheet to order name tags has opened up. The opportunity to purchase them is open to students from all classes. So if you would like to purchase a new one or a replacement please feel free to! The design will be similar to last years and names will be imprinted on a brushed metal background. Cars that are parked in the lots without a permit are going to get ticketed. If you need a permit go to your student portal and under "My Documents" you will find parking permit application.

On September 28th there will be a meeting for Outdoors Club at 11:30 in room VT 214. VPA will also be meeting at 11 in room VT 101.


September 18th, 2017

On September 26th Dr Higdon will be leading a training in the lab for blood glucose and blood pressure screenings. This is mandatory for anyone who intends on participating in any of the screenings put on by clubs. Here is a link to sign up:

The Office of Financial Aid will be on campus on September 21, 2017! They will be holding individual appointments in room 213 from 9:30am-2pm. If you have any questions about your financial aid required documents, student employment forms, or any other outstanding form please make an appointment by signing up below:

This past week APhA hosted a blood glucose screening at the Burlington Farmers Market. They completed over 75 screenings! Thank you to everyone who participated.

September 10th, 2017: Whats new this week?

So as you know, Monday is September 11th.

16 years ago, an attack was made on the United States, and cost the lives of thousands of people, changing the zeitgeist of world as we know it.

In remembrance of Patriot Day, please consider wearing red, white, and blue in honor of those lost, those who served, and for those still grieving.

September 12th there will be Counseling Services available to any students. Take a look at the flyer, below. In addition, there will be a leadership council September 12th in VT101 at 11:30

On September 14th there will be an SSHP meeting in VT310 at 11.

Also thank you to every one who came out for the Hurricane Harvey relief fundraiser! We managed to raise over $440. Thank you to all the students and staff who made this possible.

The Outdoor Club also hosted there annual bike ride this past weekend. We appreciate everyone who showed up.

September 3, 2017: Last Week Recap

On September 5, the SGA meeting will be held in VT114 at 11am.

On September 5, Dean of Students Wendy Neifeld Wheeler, Registrar Jeff Dufour, and Associate Registrar and PDSO Marcia Rousseau will be here on campus. Stop by 102 to meet them or ask questions.

**Just a reminder for all new international students there is a meeting with the college’s PDSO Marcia Rousseau at noon on Tuesday, September 5 in Room 213. Lunch will be served.**

On September 7 and 8, President Dewey will be on campus along with the college’s Board of Trustees who are going to be holding their fall meeting here in Vermont. Please introduce yourself to new faces and provide some warm Vermont Hospitality.

On September 7, Hurricane Harvey Fundraiser - Movie Night : Start time 7pm!

On September 9, Leadership retreat. The Grand Isle Lake House. Bus will depart campus at 8:45 am and return to campus by 4:30 pm. Hot drinks, snacks and lunch will be provided.

Welcome to ACPHS-VT Class of 2021! We are so excited to begin the new academic school year with you! The faculty, staff and students have worked very hard to put together an amazing four days for you; some of the upperclassmen are a little jealous you get to go on a gondola ride! Enjoy your week ahead making memories to last a lifetime! School officially begins in less than 1 week!

We are excited to announce that the weekly dose will be moving to a website! Each club will have their own webpage and be able to do whatever they want to advertise their clubs each week. If there is a main event happening with a club, they have the opportunity to write a shout out on the home page and put more information on their own page!
