Winter formal is coming up soon on December 1st at 6pm! Please use this google doc link to RSVP by November 16th. The event is FREE for students and the cost for guests is $30. Payments for guests are also due by November 16th, make checks payable to ACPHS (envelopes and drop-box for checks can be found in the administrative offices, in the first office on the right).

This week CAC will be hosting LAB DRESS DOWN Day! Bring $5 to your lab and you can ditch the white coat and dress clothes! Mock interviews will also be going on this week, both Monday and Wednesday evening from 5:30-8:30 pm.

Finally, congrats to the P3s for winning Penny Wars! Over $70 was raised, we will get the dessert to the P3s soon!

November 5th, 2018

This week CAC Penny Wars start! Each class along with faculty will have their own jar. The team with the least negative score at the end of the week will win a delicious dessert! All proceeds benefit Relay for Life. Pennies count as positive and all other money counts as negative. Jars will be located in the cafeteria!

Come join SPDA on Tuesday in VT114 at 11 for an informational presentation to discuss how best to interact with members of the LGBTQ+ community in practice. This event is open to faculty and students alike! Bonus: this is also a PhIT-portfolio approved event!

There will also be a Career Fair this Friday in VT114 from 2-5pm! You can look forward to meeting employers and getting some precious time to do some networking.

With National Distance Learning Week happening this week, there will be a drop in session on Tuesday from 11-12 in the SGA Office. Stop by and talk to some of our online learning students! They’ll share experience, ideas, and suggestions about the courses they took and answer questions.

We will also be having a professional photographer campus on Wednesday 11/7/18 for a photo shoot! The still-life photography will contain both faculty and students around campus, and we will also be taking portrait photos of our students. All photos will be used in Marketing Efforts for the College. If you are interested, please RSVP to Meghan Shae's email ASAP.

Congrats to our panthers soccer team for winning their division championship tournament!

This week there will be Yoga on Monday from 7:30pm to 8:30 pm! Our Tuesday will be a jam packed day, with the Fresh Check day at 10, PLS Volunteers with OSCO Pharmacy at 12, and the CAC Ronald McDonald House Dinner in the evening from 4:30 to 6:30!

Our first Hope Lodge event of the semester is coming on November 2nd. Come help make dinner for cancer patients and their families at Hope Lodge in Burlington! The event is expected to last from 4:30pm to 5:30 pm. Please sign-up using the google doc.

Hello everyone!

This week, SSHP will be hosting their Residency Night event this Thursday Oct. 25th. If you are interested in doing PGY modules, or would like to learn more about doing a residency, it's a great event to attend. You can sign up here for the event here.

The Colchester Halloween festival is happening this weekend, at Bayside Park from 3-6pm, with a movie afterwards! ACPHS will have a presence at the fair, so it would be great if you could attend. Volunteers are still needed, so if you are interested in helping out, please sign up here.

Happy thanksgiving everyone! Just a reminder that on October 9th, we will be following the Monday class schedule.


The first-ever #WomenPharmacistDay is on October 12, 2018. Honor the trailblazers who have made such progress possible, and recognize the important contributions that women pharmacists make, every day, to delivering quality care to patients in communities, nationwide.


Think Pink Bingo: ​Money fundraiser will go to the Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The event will be bingo night style with light refreshments. Admission will be $5 a person and there will be an option of purchasing extra boards, spaces and raffle tickets for the raffle prizes throughout the night.


Flu Shot Clinic: The college will be offering free flu shots to students from 10:30 am to 1 pm this Thursday. Please bring your insurance information and identification.


Relay for Life Blanket Fundraiser will be going on throughout this week. To purchase the blankets, please contact Sam Aierle, the cost of each blanket is $25.

Student Pharmacist Compounding Competition (2018 – 2019)

Local Competitions: Nov. 2018 & Jan. 2019

National Compounding Competition: March 16-17, 2019 Aventura, Florida

The Local Competition - Specific Dates TBD

Students will compete in teams of three. The top eight teams from round 1 (in November) will compete in the compounding portion in round 2 (in January). The top team will represent the College at the National Competition.

This IPE event is PhIT Approved for the Leadership/Professional Development Category. P1s are encouraged to reach out to their IPE Table Team and attend together and get points towards the Deans’ IPE Award.

The Cure for IBD Fun Run/Walk is this Saturday, October 6th! You can choose to run 1 mile, 2 miles, or a 5K. It's $20 to sign up and you get a drawstring backpack, racing bib, t-shirt, and a medal if you finish. $20 is a lot for students, but the experience you'll gain by listening to the stories of those living with Crohn's and Colitis is priceless! For those of you that are interested, ASHP hosts a biannual "New Drug Update Competition" where students submit a 1-page write-up on a new medication (indication, adverse effects, place in therapy, efficacy). The winner of the contest will be featured on the ASHP online platform. Besides having your name digitally etched on the website of the largest and most influential pharmacy organization for all of eternity, this is an excellent opportunity to bolster your CV. Submissions are due by Oct 1st and more information is located in the link below.

There will be a final CLIA training with Dr. Higdon (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m. in the skills lab. This training is mandatory for participants of all clubs who want to go to any blood pressure or blood glucose screenings. If you have already done one and want to brush up on your skills you are welcome to join as well

Join Colleges Against Cancer on Tuesday, 12PM at room 213 for their first general meeting of the year! They have a lot of great events coming up this fall so come learn all about how to get involved!


Have you ever consider opening your own pharmacy? Well, Tammy McDonald of RxOwnership at McKesson will be joining us this Thursday, Sept. 20th at 5 PM in Room 114 to talk about owning an independent pharmacy and the steps to make your dream, a reality! There will be FREE PIZZA and this is a PHIT APPROVED EVENT. Even if you have no interest in independent pharmacy practice it will still be informative and interesting. And who knows she may change your mind? So, join us and come see what APhA has to offer!


APhA is hosting another blood glucose/blood pressure screening at the Burlington Farmers Market on Saturday 9/29 from 8am-1pm!

We are going to have another quick training for this event in the lab (more info will be posted soon). Please give yourself enough time to park and also dress professionally in your white coats. This could be a great event to fulfill one of your PhIT portfolio requirements. Also, P3s, this is a great chance for you to practice your blood pressure measuring skills outside labs.
