V: HARRY POTTER.

Malia is a Gryffindor student. She is from the Hale family who are predominantly a Slytherin family. She was snuck out away from the family by her elder cousin Laura as a baby and adopted out in the hopes of her avoiding the same fate as the resto f their family, being turned into a werewolf. However, thanks to being being attacked while with her muggle adoptive parents, she did in fact develop lycanthropy.

V: DCEU.

As the child of parents in two opposing crime families, the Hale’s and a metahuman family only known as the Coyotes, Malia was taken at birth for her own protection by her aunt and placed in Gotham City’s adoption system where she was adopted by the Tate’s. She grew up happy and loved until her birth mother tracked down her daughter, triggering Malia’s metahuman abilities and killing her family. Gotham’s finest pinned the blame on nine year old Malia, claiming with a biological link to the two crime families, that she was clearly to blame. However because she kept talking about a woman who turned into a coyote, she was sent as a child to Arkham Asylum. There she was under Dr Quinzel, and was doing better until Mr J started to cause the Doctor to fall in love with him. Once Harley ended up in Arkham herself, she mentored the teenager in revenge and retribution, turning Malia Tate into The Desert Wolf, a metahuman villain who is a gun for hire and follower of the Joker.

V: SHADOWHUNTERS.

After taking Corrine’s power, Malia thought that was the end of the matter. But when her birth mother escaped her protective custody. As such, Malia had ran away from Beacon Hills and her pack to keep them safe as her mother only wants her dead, not them. She ends up in New York where she learns of the existence of Angels and Demons and struggles with the knowledge that wolves and coyotes are seen as having demon blood.
