• Purpose of IE Track

  The Internet of Things has become an established technology, with devices being deployed in homes, workplaces, and public places at rapidly increasing. IoT devices equipped with a processor, communication module, sensors, and actuators are the main technology of smart homes, smart cities, intelligent transport systems to reduce energy usage and improve quality of our life. With the prevalence of IoT, the problem of how to manage the vast volumes, wide variety and type of data generated, and erratic generation patterns is becoming challenging and difficult issues.

  Edge computing brings data processing and other computing needs as close to the smart devices as possible, which reduces latency, among other potential benefits. The edge computing reduces the cascade of potential bandwidth bottlenecks and processes the data that matters, keeping it close to the source. The balance between edge servers and cloud servers is an important issue in this field. Though there is the concept of local processing at the edge is powerful, there also need to analyze effect between edge and cloud for satisfying application requirements.

  Researchers and practitioners would have a chance to propose new ideas and to compare existing studies. The focus of this track is on the application of both novel and well-known techniques to related to IoT and edge computing.

• Topics of Interests

Major topics of interest include but are not limited to the following: 

• Paper Submission & Selection

  Research papers and experience reports related to the above topics are solicited. Submissions must not have been published or be concurrently considered for publication elsewhere. Papers should be submitted in PDF format with no more than  10 pages using the ACM-SAC proceedings format. Authors' names and affiliations should be entered separately at the submission site and not appear in the submitted papers. Each submission will be reviewed in a double-blind process according to the ACM-SAC Regulations. Paper selection is based on the originality, technical contribution, presentation quality, and relevance to the IoT and Edge Computing Track. Upon paper acceptance, prospective authors must provide a camera-ready version that takes into account the review comments. The conference proceedings will be published by ACM and also available online through the ACM Digital Library.
